The burglary took place sometime in the last few weeks, while Rachel was in Canada with fiancé Hayden Christiansen — the actress is remains out of the country.

It was Rachel’s mom who discovered the scene when she stopped by the house on Monday night to check on things.

A source to the Bilsons tells PEOPLE that the Jumper actress is devastated over the burglary.

“She’s shaken. She feels violated.”

Actress Rachel Bilson and her longtime boyfriend, Hayden Christensen, are engaged, PEOPLE Magazine has learned.

According to a friend of the actress, Rachel and Hayden got engaged over the 2008 holiday season and are planning to wed later this year.

“They’re so excited. They’re a great couple. Rachel seems thrilled beyond belief.”

Rachel Bilson will design a junior sportswear line for DKNY that is set to hit major designers retailers this Fall. The former OC actress will star in a series of ad campaigns for the new collection titled Edie Rose.

“This is something that I have been interested in doing for such a long time. I was just waiting for the perfect opportunity for it to be done right,” Rachel says of her new business venture with fashion maven Donna Karen.

“This line is my main focus right now,” she continued, “I can’t draw at all, so I won’t be doing any sketches, but I am learning to sew. I think it’s important to know more about the whole process of making clothes.”

“Our customer has a real emotional connection with Rachel and she’s always on the best-dressed lists, so it seemed like such a win-win for us. Rachel has real personal style and she is very involved in every step. You can really see that in the collection,” says DKNY President Kevin Monogue.
