The critically-acclaimed director’s World War II revenge film Inglourious Basterds, the only U.S. entrant to win an award at the Cannes Film Festival in May, topped the box office in North America and the UK last weekend.

The Pulp Fiction lensman — who has worked with acting vets like Samuel L. Jackson, Brad Pitt, and John Travolta — is a big fan of actress Lindsay Lohan. Tarantino was reportedly recently overheard gushing over the 23-year-old’s impressive work in films like Herbie Reloaded and Freaky Friday.

And how could we forget the made-for-TV gem that was Life Size.

“I’ve always loved Lindsay. She is a terrific, terrific actor. I think the work she did in Freaky Friday was just top notch acting,” Tarantino allegedly said.

We think he’s serious.

Quentin Taratino’s Inglourious Basterds has been given a Summer 2009 release date.

The World War II epic, starring Brad Pitt and Mike Myers will arrive in theaters in North America on August 21, Variety reported on Friday.

Brad Pitt has officially joined the cast of Quentin Tarantino’s World War II action-drama Inglorious Bastards, Variety reports.

According to the trade mag, the father of six will play a Tennessee hillbilly who leads a team of troops to battle the Nazis.

“Quentin is convinced Britney will be brilliant. She’s delighted. She thinks it could turn her career around,” a source told Britain’s Daily Telegraph on Wednesday. “It is perfect Tarantino material. He wanted to get Britney first. She’s playing the most important character.”

“Though she definitely intends to explore acting roles down the road, right now she’s concentrating on recording her next album,” a rep for Spears says.

Team Tarantino also rebuffed the lezzie stripper reports, saying “There is no truth to this.”

According to The Daily Telegraph, Brit’s character murders the boyfriend with her bare hands before taking the girlfriend hostage, with whom she will engage in a number of sex scenes.
