Irina Shabayeva Wins “Project Runway 6″

Irina Shabayeva won the sixth season of the fashion design reality show Project Runway on Thursday in the conclusion of the hit cable series which was delayed for months by legal wrangling between its previous parent network Bravo and its current home, Lifetime.

Shabayeva edged out runners-up Carol Hannah Whitfield and Althea Harper to take top honors on the show’s second consecutive all-female finale.

Shabayeva, 27, the daughter of immigrants from the Republic of Georgia who moved their family to Brooklyn, impressed the show’s judges with an edgy collection of 13 looks shown at New York’s Fashion Week earlier this year. The designer said she was inspired by “what it takes to survive in the city as a woman.”

“Your line was sleek, modern, cohesive and it told a story,” Heidi Klum, the show’s host and one of its judges, told Irina.

Petite powerhouse Christina Aguilera will join the stylistas of Project Runway as a guest judge on the October 15 episode of fashion-forward hit, a rep for the Lifetime show confirmed to Access Hollywood on Thursday.

The Grammy Award-winning diva is the latest A-lister to appear on the sixth season of Runway, following guest judging appearances by Lindsay Lohan, Rachel Bilson, Rebecca Romijn, and Eva Longoria Parker.

Project Runway airs Thursday night @ 10 PM on Lifetime.

Project Runway mentor Tim Gunn has criticized the fashion sense of warring couple Jon & Kate Gosselin, insisting the stars of TLC’s Jon & Kate Plus 8 represent the “slobification” of America.

“In his case, everything is too big… If you want to dress to feel as though you never got out of bed, then don’t get out of bed,” Gunn said speaking to Us Weekly.

Gunn added that he is “accepting” of Kate’s famous circa 1987 haircut, explaining: “If that’s the way she wants to present herself then she’s doing a good job.”

Nicole Kidman will make a guest appearance on the Project Runway: All Star Challenge, kicking off the sixth season of the Project Runway later this week.

The Oscar-winning Ausie will make a guest appearance on a “design special” episode of Heidi Klum’s hit reality show – which features a group of aspiring fashion designers competing for a $100,000 cash prize.All-Stars sees eight stars from previous seasons returning to the cutting room for one final showdown.

Nicole will join pregnant host Heidi Klum, judges Michael Kors, and Nina Garcia and the show’s style mentor Tim Gunn for the two-hour long special episode, airing this Thursday night @ 8PM on Lifetime.

“Project Runway All-Stars”

Some of the most popular designers from the past five seasons of Lifetime’s Project Runway will return to the workroom this fall to participate in the first season of Project Runway All-Stars.

Among the designers who will allegedly participate include Chris March, Jeffrey Sebelia, Michael Knight, Daniel Vosovic, Santino Rice, Kenley Collins, Sweet P, and Korto Momolu.

The all-star cast will be announced on July 22.

Which eccentric former contestants are hoping to see once again?
