
In the end, it was only “Oprah & ‘The Ugly Cry…’”
Oprah Winfrey hung up her microphone as the undisputed Queen of Talk on Wednesday, wrapping up her nationally-syndicated Oprah Winfrey Show after 25 seasons. And what a send-off it was. Preliminary figures show yesterday’s finale scored O her biggest audience in 17 years. The episode delivered a 13.3 household rating in the nation’s metered markets, The Nielsen Co. said Thursday. Oprah hasn’t seen an audience that big since Feb. 1994. That’s when an episode called “People Shed Their Disguises” got a 13.4 rating.

British singing star Cheryl Cole will have to wait just a little longer to conquer America. She’s been replaced as a judge on the new US version of The X Factor after producers grew increasingly uncomfortable with her thick “Geordie accent” and lack of chemistry with fellow female panelist Paula Abdul. She’s been replaced with Pussycat Dolls frontwoman Nicole Scherzinger, 32, who had originally been tipped to co-host the talent show with British unknown Steve Jones. Nicole actually filled in for Cheryl, who, until recently was a judge of the UK version of the show.

Remember that adorable little munchkin of a kid who pretty much stole every scene in Jerry Maguire? Yeah — he’s not so little anymore (Feeling old yet?), but he’s still pretty adorable and those boyish good looks have garnered the ex-child star some very unwanted attention from an ex-girlfriend.
Call it a case of “You Don’t Complete Me…”

On Wednesday, a Massachusetts jury found Mark Kerrigan, the brother of ’90s figure skating champion Nancy Kerrigan, not guilty of manslaughter in relation to the 2008 death of their father. Daniel Kerrigan, 70, died after a brawl with his son in the family’s home last year, according to authorities in Stoneham, Massachusetts.

Another argument between brawlin’ Teen Mom twosome Gary Shirley and Amber Portwood led to Shirley’s arrest overnight. Only a few weeks after being awarded custody of his two-year-old toddler by being deemed “a more suitable parent” than his on/off girlfriend, Shirley, 24, was charged with driving on a suspended licence, after being approached by a police officer who overheard him arguing loudly with Portwood as he sped around their Indiana hometown in his silver Dodge.
