The Discovery Channel is in the middle of planning a tribute to Captain Phil Harris. Harris, of Discovery’s hit docu-series Deadliest Catch, died Feb. 9 of complications from a stroke he suffered late last month. He was 53. The cranky but proud captain of the Cornelia Marie was a veteran commercial fisherman.
Harris will be featured prominently in the upcoming sixth season of Deadliest Catch, set to debut on Discovery in April, the network also confirmed.

Phil Harris, the fishing boat captain whose adventures off the coast of Alaska were captured on the hit Discovery Channel series Deadliest Catch, died at a hospital near Anchorage late Tuesday. He was 53.

‘Deadliest Catch’ captain Phil Harris has been hospitalized with a stroke. Harris is the captain of the Cornelia Marie on the popular Discovery Channel show, and has captained the boat for 18 years. He now works with his two sons on the boat. Producers of the show told TMZ that Harris “suffered a stroke while in port off-loading from the F/V Cornelia Marie”. Harris previously suffered from a blood clot two years ago.
