The stunning screen star, who returns as Angela in the latest installment of The Twilight Saga, bares in the new campaign demonstrating her dedication helping animals. Christian — who is also a vegan — also posed for PETA’s Save the Seals celebrity ad series last month.

On Friday, Pam — who also worked with PETA on a campaign to bring down Kentucky Fried Chicken — visited the Ontario provincial legislature on Frday to introduce the new ads, which also Kelly Osbourne, Brody Jenner, and Holly Madison. PETA says the ads will appear in entertainment magazines and will be tweeted in many languages this fall, in a bid to keep pressure on the Canadian government.

Canada’s East Coast seal hunt is the largest in the world, killing an average of 300,000 harp seals a year. Canada’s indigenous Inuit community says the seal hunt provides crucial jobs and food for villagers in isolated communities in nothern Canada.

Pam was joined at the launch by members of PETA, including a protester dressed as a seal. She told the TV show Canada AM that the annual seal hunt is “barbaric and cruel” and “an embarrassment” to her native country.

The overzealous crackpots with animal rights group PETA are on the warpath after catching a glimpse of Paris’ new mini-pig, Miss Piglette, who was formally introduced to us by way of Paris’ Twitter page last Friday.

According to TMZ.com, Hilton’s latest addition has angered the group, who have branded Paris “wretched example” to her young fans for treating her pets like they’re “as disposable as her friends.”

PETA says of Paris: “The Chihuahuas, ferrets, and kinkajous she’s paraded through her home in the past were not accessories, and pot-bellied pigs aren’t either.”

On Monday’s installment of Dancing With The Stars, Tom Bergeron said a chimpanzee would appear on Tuesday’s live results show as a mock “guest judge” alongside regulars Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Len Goodman in the segment where various people tried to predict the winner. The chimp was edited out after the animal rights organization rattled ABC’s cage and contacted producers.

According to PETA “several organizations, including PETA, Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest, and International Primate Protection League, contacted the show’s executive producer, Conrad Green, to try to convince him not to air the segment” because “workers tear captive baby chimpanzees away from their mothers and beat them in order to force them to perform.”

Executive producer Conrad Green responded to PETA officials in an e-mail message, according to a report in Variety: “I do appreciate your point that showing a chimpanzee on our show may indirectly lead to other chimpanzees being ill-treated in the future.”

The stunning 31-year-old stopped wearing fur after watching footage of baby seals being killed for their pelts.

“I did wear fur, especially when I was growing up in the Ukraine,” the fancy-footed beauty reveals in an interview with PETA. “But there are ways of being warm and being fashionable without being cruel.”

Smirnoff joins a growing list of celebrities–including Christina Applegate, Sophie Monk, Khloe Kardashian, Nia Long, and Kimora Lee Simmons –who have starred in PETA’s anti-fur ad campaign.

According to The NY Post’s PageSix Column, a representative for CNN Airport Network penned a letter to PETA bosses complaining the commercial is “particularly sensitive because children make up part of the demographic in airports.”

The animal rights group is now hoping to show the film on in-flight entertainment.

The ad in question shows the midsection of an overweight woman in a bikini and reads: “Save the Whales. Lose the blubber. Go vegetarian.” According to PETA bosses, if you’re struggling to lose weight, going vegetarian can help you shed the pounds.

Classy.

The controversial animal rights group is defending the billboard — which has since been removed — but a lot of people found its presence offensive, including The Obesity Society, which had this to say about PETA’s current campaign.

“This ad is an unmistakable example of stigma and prejudice against individuals who are overweight and obese. The campaign is disrespectful and offensive, and is not an effective or appropriate way to encourage vegetarianism or healthy eating behaviors,” the organization said in statement last week. “The Obesity Society opposes weight bias and discrimination in all forms, and calls on PETA to remove the billboard and ensure that stigmatizing messages are absent from future campaigns. The prevalence of weight discrimination in the United States has increased by 66 percent in the past decade, and is now on par with rates of racial discrimination.”

David Martosko, director of research at the Center for Consumer Freedom, agrees, saying: “PETA’s ad is meant to feed off the insecurities of the body-conscious in order to promote meatless eating, regardless of the humiliation it may cause. The group has consistently promoted a message of animal ‘rights’ with total disregard to the human cruelty it causes. To equate any person (regardless of size) with a whale, or any other animal, is mean-spirited, cruel, and ugly.”

A PETA spokesperson says the group knew that people might be offended, but felt the “Save a Whale” campaign was the most effective way to promote their message of “Vegetarianism For Everyone.”

“Our goal was really to encourage people to live healthier lives and, of course, as an animal rights group, to save animals at the same time,” PETA spokeswoman Lindsay Rajt told WCTV on Wednesday.

“Trying to hide your thunder thighs and balloon belly is no day at the beach,” PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman curtly remarked.

The film — currently in pre-production — will star Kevin James as an unlucky-in-love zoo worker, who secretly falls for a co-worker, portrayed by Rosario Dawson. The film will feature a number of exotic animals — voiced by Cher, Sandler, and Stallone — who coach him through his quest for her love.

PETA bosses are furious that Sandler’s Happy Madison production company hired animal trainers from California for the shoot at Franklin Park Zoo in Boston, Massachusetts – claiming the company has a history of neglecting animals. According to PETA, Gary Gero’s Birds & Animals Unlimited has been cited by the US Department of Agriculture for “numerous animal welfare violations.”

“We’re hoping to enlist the film’s stars to keep cruelty off the set. Exotic animals used as involuntary ‘actors’ are routinely subjected to rigorous and abusive training methods to coerce them into performing acts that are stressful, uncomfortable, confusing and even painful,” says PETA spokeswoman Amanda Schinke.

A rep for Gary Gero’s has fired back at PETA, branding the organization irrational and misinformed: “When we did (1989 movie) Batman, PETA said our penguins should have been kept cold, they were from South Africa! They don’t do their research and there’s nothing that can be said to change their minds. We’ve been in the business 45 years, we’re highly respected. We know our animals are well-treated and well-cared for and we can sleep very well at night.”
