Paula Abdul might just be the most employable woman in America. Since announcing her departure from American Idol one week ago, the former reality personality has been courted by Idol’s sister series, So You Think You Can Dance, and even ABC’s ballroom reality hit, Dancing With The Stars.
Now Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Paula is in talks to guest star on the upcoming third season of Ugly Betty.
Details of Abdul’s role are being kept under wraps but an Ugly insider tells me that she’d be playing a new temp at Mode who bonds with Becki Newton’s Amanda, according to industry informant Michael Ausiello.
The job offers continue to pour in for Paula Abdul. ABC has invited Abdul to join its ballroom dance series, Dancing with the Stars, after learning that the former American Idol judge will not return to her post on the top-rated FOX talent competition next season.
“I would love that,” ABC Entertainment President Stephen McPherson told reporters at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour in Pasadena on Saturday. “I was a little stunned by the decision, and we would love to have her on ‘Dancing,’ as a contestant, participant or judge.”
He added, “I think she’s a huge talent. I think there’s a lot made of her in terms of who she is… There’s a sensitivity and an emotion to her that balances out Idol, and we’d love to have a piece of that.”
Victoria Beckham was “beyond excited” when she sat as the guest judge on American Idol, replacing Paula Abdul, at the Season 9 auditions in Denver last week; too bad that excitement didn’t translate once she took her seat at the table.
Spywitnesses say the former Spice Girl — known for her pout — was very aloof during the auditions.
One source told RadarOnline.com: “It didn’t go too well…She tried too hard to be ”nice,” but came off as icy and wooden.”
The New York Daily News reports that even contestants auditioning were reportedly upset about the absence of Paula — and some even said the same during their camera.
Paula Abdul’s sudden departure from American Idol this week has left her fellow judges, Kara DioGuardi and Randy Jackson, shocked. Kara, at least, is hoping Paula will “reconsider” to the hit reality talent competition.
Former American Idol finalist Constantine Maroulis was physically attacked this week, after defending the honor of exiting Idol judge Paula Abdul to a drunken barfly.
The Tony-nominated Rock of Ages star said something about hoping Paula would eventually return to show and the next thing he knew a tipsy guy in a three-piece suit pushed him to the ground and started throwing punches, according to The New York Daily News.
The man hit and kicked him repeatedly before security stepped in.
“The guy body-slammed him and punched him in the face and then just stood up, straightened his tie, and said, ‘Bitch, don’t you ever,’ before walking away,” a spywitness reports.
Constantine later Twittered about the bizarre ambush.
“I’m FINE! Some drunk dude tackled me in the middle of the concert and jumped on me,” he Tweeted. “Broke up quick, didn’t even know him. Or throw one punch. I don’t mind a fight…but only when its fair and I’m lookin.”

The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that R&B legend Diana Ross and jazz star Natalie Cole are two of a number of veteran vocalists who have been “quietly approached” about possibly replacing Paula Abdul as the fourth judge on American Idol.
The ninth season of America’s top-rated TV talent competition premieres in January.
Victoria Beckham has been tipped to replace departing judge Paula Abdul on American Idol, The Daily Mirror reported on Thursday.
The former Spice Girl, 35, will begin filming guest spots on two episodes of Idol later this week at the insistence of music mogul Simon Cowell.
But Posh has refused to join the panel permanently – opting instead to concentrate fully on her fashion career.
“At the moment, Victoria’s main priority is fashion. She doesn’t really need any distractions. She’ll also be back at New York fashion week in September to launch her 2010 collection,” a source told The Daily Mirror Thursday. Read the rest of this entry »
She’s been unemployed for less than 24 hours, but Paula Abdul already has a new job offer on the table. Former American Idol executive producer Nigel Lythgoe has invited the “Rush Rush” singer to join his FOX reality dance hit So You Think You Can Dance as a judge and choreographer.
On Tuesday night, Paula took to her Twitter page to reveal that she would not be returning as a judge for the ninth season of American Idol after failing to come to a satisfactory contract agreement with series producers. Read the rest of this entry »
