This may surprise you, but Paula Abdul isn’t the easiest woman in America to work for.

Simon Cowell’s back. But has he changed his acerbic stripes?
The “American Idol” alum’s much-hyped new show, “The X Factor,” bows in September. And in an extended preview released today, audiences are initially treated to a softer, gentler Simon. One who applauds the “spirit” of a tone-deaf young girl and isn’t repulsed by grandstanding and makes nauseating nice-nice with fellow judge and frequent combatant Paula Abdul.

Reunited and it smells so bad! Paula Abdul is rejoining frenemy Simon Cowell on the talent show circuit. The ditzy ’80s pop star behind hits like “Straight Up” And “Rush Rush” will appear alongside Cowell, music mogul Antonio “LA” Reid, and British pop tart Cheryl Cole at the judges’ table when The X Factor America debuts on FOX in September.

Too bad her CBS dancing show wasn’t this entertaining! All-new audio has surfaced of former American Idol judge Paula Abdul making a frantic call to 911 in which she pleads for help in trying to escape her boyfriend’s car after an apparent argument.
“I want out of this car and he won’t let me,” a sobbing Paula yelped to an emergency operator in a call made on Valentine’s Day.
