Former American Idol judge Paula Abdul hadn’t spoken to pal Ryan Seacrest since abruptly departing the reality competition last August, but Pauls quicked reached out to Ryan after hearing a stalker armed with a knife burst into the E! Building in hot pursuit of the Hardest-Working Man in Hollywood, celebrity snitch Mike Walker writes in the Nov. 23 issue of The National Enquirer. “Paula had faced the horror of stalker Paula Goodspeed — who once sent her a box of razor blade, then killed herself outside Paula’s home — so she phoned Ryan to share hard-earned safety tips,” an insider dished. Paula Abdul hasrekindled her romance with former flame Arsenio Hall – 20 years after the couple first dated.
Paula and Arsenio met on the set of the 1988 Coming to America and began dating a short time later. The then-pop star even featured Arsenio in the music video for her ’80s single “Straight Up.” The singer has been single since splitting from restaurant owner J.T. Torregiani last year, but after quitting her job as a judge on American Idol in August, the former late night host reached out to Paula to offer words of support, a reconciliation soon followed. “Arsenio reached out to Paula because he thought she needed a friend to talk to, someone she could relate to. Arsenio knows what it’s like to leave a hit TV show. One phone call led to another, and the next thing you know, they were making a date,” a tipster tattles in the Nov. 16 issue of The National Enquirer.
“This could be the perfect situation for the two of them. Paula and Arsenio know each other inside and out and if anyone knows what Paula is going through, it’s Arsenio.”
Former American Idol judge Paula Abdul is using her status as a free agent and expertise as an ’80s pop star to launch her own record label. And if that isn’t enough, Paula’s roster will be comprised entirely of former Idol rejects she believes have the potential to be superstars, industry informants reveal in the Oct. 12 edition of The National Enquirer. “She believes she’s a good judge of what it takes to become a succesful recording artist…” Read the rest of this entry »
Paula Abdul is planning a clothing line for dogs, The National Enquirer reported Wednesday.
The former American Idol judge has several canine companions of her own and has decided to create a collection of high-end ensembles for other pampered pooches.
“Paula is secretly launching a new business, designing duds for classy canines. She has already met with major pet store buyers who are straining at the leash to handle her designs,” says a source close to the former pop star.
Crystal-studded collars and leashes, T-shirts, sweaters, and shoes are a few of the offerings being designed for possible inclusion in the line, The Enquirer claims. Paula is so convinced the idea will be a hit, she wants her own pets to star in the ad campaign.
“Paula has pledged that her own five pooches will model for all TV and print ads.”
It’s back to the unemployment line for Paula. The return of Divas Live! won’t mark the beginning of a beautiful partnership between VH1 and former American Idol host Paula Abdul.
The notoriously emotional Paula proved to be a “major pain” who caused “chaos on the set” of rehearsals for her gig as host of the Sept. 17 Divas concert special live from Brooklyn, NY, a chatty network source revealed in the Oct. 5 issue of GLOBE.
“Paula freaked out and started bawling over one of the pretaped skits she didn’t like,” the VH1 snitch complained to GLOBE’s “Loosch Lips Column” on Thursday. “She insisted it be entirely reworked, then demanded numerous last minute changes to her big dance number as well.”
Guess we won’t be seeing Paula as the host of Charm School!
Paula Abdul spoofed Ellen DeGeneres in good humor at the VH1 Divas! Live Concert at the Howard Gilman Ballroom in Brooklyn, New York on Thursday night. Last week, FOX and producers of American Idol announced that the Emmy-winning DeGeneres would replace Paula as a judge on the upcoming season of the ratings juggernaut.
As part of the spot-on parody, Paula sported Ellen’s signature daily uniform of a blazer with trousers and sneakers, before taking the stage to perform medley of her hits during her hosting gig of the music special.
By the looks of this brief sneak preview clip from rehearsal this week, Paula will be dancing to her ’80s dance hits as she hosts Idol alums Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson, and Jordin Sparks, along with new Adele, Leona Lewis, and Miley Cyrus, at this evening’s show live from Brooklyn, NY.
Rosie O’Donnell predicts big success for Ellen DeGeneres as the Emmy-winning talk show host prepares to take over the fourth judge’s seat on American Idol.
“I think she’ll be very good at that show,” the outspoken comedienne, who is gearing up to host her own radio show on SIRIUS XM this fall, said during Fashion’s Night Out in New York City on Thursday evening.
In fact, Ro believes Ellen will be a better Idol judge than Paula Abdul, “who was often incoherent.”
“Forever Your Girl” and Always A Lady. There’s no bad blood between former American Idol judge Paula Abdul and her replacement comedienne/daytime talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.
On Thursday, the former singing star released a statement congratulating Ellen on her new job as the fourth judge on television’s top-rated talent competition.
Now that the judge’s chair she occupied for eight seasons of American Idol is officially warming the buns of comedienne Ellen DeGeneres, Paula Abdul needs a new full-time gig more than ever — and old pal Simon Cowell could have the perfect plan to get Paula working again.
According to a new report, the caustic Cowell is lobbying to have the “Forever Your Girl” star follow him across the pond to join The X-Factor, the British reality series that made an international singing sensation out of songbird Leona Lewis.
“They’re not sure how she’ll be used yet. She might mentor the contestants during the final live shows and teach them the importance of stage presence,” a television industry tipster blabbed in the Sept. 21 edition of Star.
Paula guest judged the UK series for one episode in 2006. In addition to The X-Factor gig, Paula — a former Laker Girl — is in discussions to produce her own cheerleader-themed live show on the Las Vegas strip.
