Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi, 41, is feeling about as gloomy as a rainy night in London as she mourns the death of her boyfriend, billionaire philanthropist Theodore “Teddy” Forstmann.

TV Guide has come out swinging in response to allegations that publishers ordered more than a little airbrushing to Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi, who appears on this week’s cover of the mag.
Guide editors are steaming after PopEater.com published an editorial accusing the publication of digitally-lightening Lakshmi’s rich olive skin tone — similar to a move L’Oreal pulled in 2007, setting off shockwaves when the cosmetics brand was outed lightening an ad featuring “Sasha Fierce” singer Beyonce. The firestorm is also reminiscent of a denial issued by Elle Magazine in September, when the fashion magazine refuted claims that it had lightened the skin of Precious actress Gabourey Sidibe, a dark-skinned African-American, on the cover of Elle’s 25th Anniversary issue.
Padma Lakshmi’s baby daddy Adam Dell has hired legal eagle Bill Zabel to help him negotiate a custody arrangement with the Top Chef host.
Padma and Adam enjoyed an on-again/off-again romance that ended just before Padma became pregnant in 2009. Despite previously working out an arrangement for shared custody with Lakshmi, the brother of billionaire crappy computer manufacturer Michael Dell wants to win a larger role in the life of one-month-old daughter Krishna. Zabel has repped everyone from George Soros, Jane (Mrs. Jack) Welch, Kerry Kennedy-Cuomo, and Nancy Friday to Howard Stern.
“If Dell has changed his mind, that’s his problem. They [Lakshmi and Dell] already have an agreement,” says a friend of Padma’s.
