Determined to start a family, songbird Mariah Carey and hubby Nick Cannon have decided to adopt after several false alarms and more than a year of trying unsuccessfully to conceive.
The 40-year-old star is desperate to have a child with her 28-year-old spouse, a family friend spills in the Sept. 14 issue of GLOBE. In February, Mariah reportedly visited a Los Angeles fertility clinic without success. And just last month, the Grammy winner cancelled a string of appearances promoting the upcoming release of her album Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel amid rumors that she has been having trouble getting pregnant.

Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey were in a minor car accident in Los Angeles early Thursday morning.
According to Mariah’s Twitter page, the vehicle the diva and her manbag were traveling in was in a collision at approximately 9 AM.
“just got into a little car accident in la..but we’re all ok. Neither of us were driving,” Mariah tweeted. “this is why I don’t drive,or get up early.”
The 38-year-old powerhouse reportedly dropped $200,000 on baby girl furniture during a recent tour of a children’s store in San Francisco. Mariah purchased a pink crib and highchair for the new Hollywood home she’s buying with husband Nick Cannon, 28.
The couple is moving from New York to L.A. so that the singing star can concentrate on her budding career in film. Nick will be on the West Coast for his new gig as host of America’s Got Talent. Nick and Mariah are said to be eyeing a $125 million French chateau near the Playboy Mansion.
The New York native is said to be turning her back on her Big Apple roots in favor of life in the City of Angels, where she will continue working on her recently revived acting career. The multiplatinum-selling singer just got rave reviews for her role in the independent film Tennessee.
