Hines Ward now has one more photograph to add to his scrapbook — a mugshot.
The current “Dancing with the Stars” champion and Pittsburgh Steelers’ star wide receiver was arrested for driving under the influence just outside Atlanta, Georgia in the wee hours this morning. The former Super Bowl MVP was booked into the DeKalb County jail and later released on $1,300 bond.
No word yet from his bosses at the Steelers. DUI is nothing to take lightly, of course, but given the transgressions of other professional athletes in recent years, they’re probably just happy he wasn’t shooting or raping or pillaging anyone when it happened.
Casey Anthony, who was recently cleared of killing her young daughter Caylee, has one fewer tawdry get-rich-quick opportunity.
Just yesterday, porn kingpin Steve Hirsch, co-chairman of XXX company Vivid Entertainment, reached out to Anthony’s attorney with an offer of a “business relationship.”
So dignified. Like the way hookers call their johns “clients” to give something soul-crushing an air of class and sophistication.
“Whether you agree with the verdict or not, Casey will want to move forward with her life and has a right to make a living. It’s not going to be easy for her and we believe we can help her make the transition into a new life,” Hirsch told TMZ with a straight face, making it sound as though the accused murderer is a Haitian refugee.
But that was yesterday. And as we all know, a day to a pornstar is like a year to the rest of us. (Fast livin’ takes its toll, y’all.)
After thirty-three days of testimony, two days of closing arguments and only 10 hours of deliberation, the jury in the Casey Anthony trial has acquitted the 25-year-old Florida mother accused of killing her 2-year-old daughter Caylee in 2008.
The defense claimed Caylee accidentally drowned and that Casey’s father, George, helped Casey cover up the death to make it look like a homicide.
The prosecution said Anthony suffocated her daughter with duct tape and presented evidence showing suspicious internet searches for words like “chloroform” and “neck breaking.” Anthony didn’t report her daughter missing for a month, leading many to believe she must have had something to do with the killing since, you know, grieving mothers do not party and shop and have the Italian words for “beautiful life” tattooed on themselves when their young daughters are missing.
There’s a serial killer prowling the classified ads uploaded to Craigslist.org each day. Authorities in New York believe that the person responsible for the murder of at least eight people found on a desolate stretch of a Long Island beach may work in or be familiar with law enforcement; similar to that of the star of Showtime’s award-winning drama Dexter — in which Michael C. Hall plays a forensic crime scene investigatior by day and a slashing serial killer by night.
Joran van der Sloot, the suspect in the slaying of a young Peruvian woman and previously considered a suspect in the 2005 disappearance of Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway in Aruba, was aprehended in Santiago, Chile Thursday.
Van der Sloot, a 22-year-old Dutch playboy, is the main suspect in the beating/stabbing slaying of 21-year-old Stephany Flores Ramirez. Ramirez — the daughter of a well-known racecar driver and local businessman — was found battered Wednesday in a Lima, Peru, hotel room that had been rented by van der Sloot.
