The two actresses play bitter ballet rivals who also share a twisted friendship in the eagerly-anticipated thriller exploring the cutthroat world of professional dance.
Swan — directed by The Wrestler lensman Darren Aronofsky and featuring Vincent Cassel and Winona Ryder — centers on the rivalries between the dancers at a ballet company in New York City.
Black Swan opens at the Venice Film Festival Sept. 1.

Natalie Portman, who stars opposite Tobey Maguire and Jake Gyllenhaal in the upcoming film Brothers, describes herself as a bit of a late bloomer in the Jan. 2010 issue of Marie Claire. “OK, so I didn’t really go to high school parties,” she tells the magazine. “I didn’t touch pot ’til I was in my 20s. I didn’t get flat-out drunk until I went to college [Harvard]. But I think that’s a good thing in many ways.”
With her legthy locks slicked into a perfect pompadour, vegan extraordinaire Natalie Portman adopts an androgynous look for the cover of V Magazine’s December issue. Mario Testino snapped the Oscar-nominated star, now 28, in London last month, where she spoke to the magazine about her first-ever sex scene in the upcoming war drama, Brothers, where she plays the wife of a marine, played by Tobey Maguire.
“….Being a sexual object when you’re a kid is really uncomfortable. After [debuting in 1994’s] ‘The Professional,’ I was already getting creepy letters.”
