Naomi Watts is set to star in a remake of Alfred Hitchcock’s 1963 classic thriller The Birds. However, not everyone involved in the original suspense classic is pleased with the idea of a remake.

Tippi Hedren, who was cast in the lead role in 1963, has slammed the idea of a remake as “insulting.”

“To take a work of art like that and try to copy it is like trying to imitate the Mona Lisa,” Hedren retorted in The Daily Express on Sunday. “I think Hitch would call them tiny tots trying to make movies and ask why they don’t have an original thought in their heads.”
