The Real World DC holds the distinction of being the lowest-rated spinoff in the history MTV’s long-running reality series (We blame the success of Jersey Shore….), but one Washington woman says her brief appearance on the unpopular show was seen enough times to ruin her life.
Golzar Amirmotazedi, a 22-year-old makeup artist who appeared on an episode of The Real World that aired last January, is suing Viacom, MTV and Bunim/Murray Productions for $5 million, claiming producers provided her with alcoholic beverages and subjected her to ridicule after she refused to have sex with two of the show’s cast members.
Break out your bronzer and slip into your boogey shoes: An official soundtrack to MTV’s Jersey Shore fist-pumps its way into stores July 20. MTV and Universal Republic Records are teaming up to release a compilation of songs inspired by Snooki, The Sitch, and the rest of the orange-hued crew of the hit reality series.
Snooki meets Larry The Cable Guy in Redneck Riviera….
Well folks, we’ve officially heard it all….If you’re a proud Southerner with a pickup truck, a Confederate flag, and a penchant for Nascar and Martina McBride, Code Red Productions would like to talk to you! The blogosphere has been set ablaze with news about yet another reality soap inspired by the success of MTV’s Jersey Shore.
The New York-based company is working with an Alabama native on a proposed new Shore-esque docu-soap tentatively-titled Redneck Riviera — a reality show representing the “unique beach culture” of the Southern United States.
Cute overload! They did it with Jersey Shore, they did it with Scarface, and now the world’s littlest reality fans are reenacting scenes from MTV’s departing unscripted smash, The Hills.
MTV managed to set a new standard for tawdry reality TV with the premiere of its drink-throwin’ smash Jersey Shore. (Not that the standard for such shows could have gotten any lower.) We doubt there’s any way they’ll manage to top The Situation’s abs or Snooki’s spitfire outbursts, but the network that brought us The Hills and America’s Next Best Dance Crew is hoping to strike gold once more with the debut of its new summer “reality-sitcom” (Whatever That Is…), Downtown Girls.
Think of it as a thinly-veiled imitation of Sex And The City. We’re still not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing, so wake us up when someone starts fist-pumpin’.
