We hear ABC Family is presently casting for a movie inspired by Constance McMillen, the Mississippi teen who garnered national headlines, a headlining spot in New York’s Gay Pride Parade, and a $30,000 college scholarship from Ellen DeGeneres after she filed charges against her rural school district for banning her from her senior prom because she is a lesbian.

“Flashdance: The Musical!”

A stage musical based on Flashdance, one of cinema’s most beloved romantic-dramas of the 1980s, will debut on London’s West End this week, says New York real estate mogul and Broadway producer Elie Hirschfeld, who is an investor in the hotly-anticipated production.

Flashdance: The Musical opens at The Shaftesbury Theatre in Britain this Thursday, Oct. 14, thanks to a stageplay penned by British stars Matt Willis and Victoria Hamilton-Barritt, who have crafted a stage show based on Tom Hedley and Joe Eszterhas’ 1983 screenplay.

“Carrie” Off-Broadway Musical Getting Reboot?

No 3D For “Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part I”

Harry Potter and his pals won’t be using magic to combat evil in 3D after all.

On Friday, Warner Bros. Studios announced that the first part of the film in the blockbuster Harry Pottter film franchise will only be released to standard and IMAX theaters in 2D — not the eye-popping 3D technology as was originally planned.
