Sylvester Stallone back on top of the box office — The Expendables stole the top spot at the box office this weekend, earning $35 million in its first week of release. Julia Roberts’ Eat, Pray, Love — the big-screen adaptation of the bestselling memoir about a woman’s international search for herself — came in second, opening with $23.7 million.

Check out Sam Worthington and Helen Mirren’s new thriller The Debt.

Worthington and Mirren star in the story of Rachel Singer, “a former Mossad agent who endeavored to capture and bring to trial a notorious Nazi war criminal-the Surgeon of Birkenau-in a secret Israeli mission that ended with his death on the streets of East Berlin. Now, 30 years later, a man claiming to be the doctor has surfaced, and Rachel must go back to Eastern Europe to uncover the truth. Overwhelmed by haunting memories of her younger self and her two fellow agents, the still-celebrated heroine must relive the trauma of those events and confront the debt she has incurred.”

The Debt opens in theaters Dec. 29.

Drew Barrymore & Justin Long fans will have to wait an extra week to see their new film Going the Distance. The romantic-comedy — which had been tapped for release Aug. 27 — will now open in theatres Sept 3.

“A week can make a big difference in our business,” Jeff Goldstein, Warner Vice-President of Domestic Distribution told Variety this week. “And good movies will rise to the occasion.”
