First Lady Michelle Obama delivered the first-ever commencement speech at the University of California, Merced in Merced, California on Saturday, May 16. The 493 students receiving diplomas are the first graduating class since the university opened in 2005.

Legendary fashion model Iman serves Michelle Obama a backhanded compliment in an interview featured in this week’s edition of Parade.

While Iman doesn’t find Mrs. O a strickingly beautiful woman, she notes that the First Lady’s “interesting look” will be a benefit to her in the aging process.

Ok….

Iman tells Parade: “Mrs. Obama is not a great beauty…But she is so interesting looking and so bright. That will always take you farther. When you’re a great beauty, it’s always downhill for you. If you’re someone like Mrs. Obama, you just get better with age.”

Methinks what Michelle may lack in looks, she makes up for with intelligence, pose, and just overall fierceness.

Joined by the always adorable Elmo, First Lady Michelle Obama is encouraging kids to eat smart, eat healthy, and exercise in a new public service announcement on nutrition from the creators of Sesame Street.

Earlier this week, Mrs. Obama called her partnership with the children’s television classic– taped during a trip to New York City this week — one of the most meaningful things she’s done since moving into The White House.
