Transit officials in New York City have vetoed plans to rename the site of Michael Jackson’s “Bad” music video in tribute to the singer. In 1987, Jackson teamed up with Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese to shoot the 16-minute short film — featuring Wesley Snipes — at Hoyt-Schermerhorn Subway Station in Brooklyn.
Fans of the King of the Pop are requesting that the station be renamed after Jackson and a plaque be displayed in honor of the star. However, officials at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority have scrapped the plan because they fear tourists and commuters will be confused by the name-change. Read the rest of this entry »
Dr. Conrad Murray, the cardiologist under investigation in the death of Michael Jackson, is on suicide watch at his luxurious Las Vegas home.
Pals of Dr. Murray, 55, fear he may try to take his own life rather than face second-degree murder or manslaughter charges over Jackson’s death in Los Angeles on June 25.
“He won’t come out because he can’t come out,” a neighbor said he is believed to be on the edge of a breakdown. “He’s become the most hated man in the world.”
On Monday, Dr. Murray recorded a public statement, thanking his patients for their support.
Is Oliver Twist Paris Jackson’s biological father?
Mark Lester — best known for his role in the Oscar-winning 1968 movie musical Oliver! — is the godfather of all three of Michael Jackson’s children. But the former child star has infuriated the tight-knit Jackson Clan and its team of attorneys by revealing that his sperm may have been used in the artifical insemination that resulted in the birth of Michael’s only daughter, Paris, eleven years ago.
The King of Pop Meets The King of Pop Art: Andy Warhol’s portrait “Michael Jackson 1984,” a 30-by-26-inch painting of the pop star that was commissioned to celebrate the success of Michael’s iconic 1982 Thriller album — was sold for over $1 million in an auction at the The Vered Gallery in East Hampton, NY this week.
Gallery co-owner Janet Lehr has not revealed the final bid price.
Michael Jackson’s personal physician will be charged with manslaughter.
A law enforcement source tells FOX News that Dr. Conrad Murray will be charged within the next two weeks and could be arrested as soon as next Wednesday. Murray’s Las Vegas home and offices in Nevada and Texas have already been searched by police, and investigators have executed another search warrant in an attempt to gather more evidence against him.
The source also says Jackson’s longtime dermatologist will also face criminal charges. We hear Dr. Arnold Klein will be charged for medical malpractice, but investigators are still building their case against him. He will not be arrested for at least another two weeks, the source said.
