A rapidly growing internet meme, similar to LOLcats, is the self-explanatory ‘Fail’. This is perhaps the best word to describe the following 10 celebrities that have majestically failed in their rise to stardom. Perhaps they have achieved their goal in a twisted way – their actions have caused more of a stir than normal PR or a box-office hit would have. Here are the top 10 most epic failures when it comes to celebrities.
10. Whitney Houston

Whitney Houston can boost with 7 consecutive #1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and being part of one of the most successful soundtracks of all time. It all started to plummet when she married R&B singer Bobby Brown. Her personal issues started affecting her career, the star eventually undergoing two rehab programs, in 2005 and 2006. After the second program, the diva divorced Brown and gained custody of their only daughter. She is hoping to have a comeback with a studio album she will be releasing in November 2008.

RUMOR: Mel Gibson has talked Britney Spears into performing a gospel solo at his California-area Catholic church. The fifty-two year old actor/director has grown obsessed with helping Britney “rediscover God.”
“He is acting as a kind of mentor to help her rediscover God. He is thrilled that she has agreed to come to his church.”

Britney Spears and Mel Gibson got together for a dinner at Russian restaurant Romanov in Hollywood on Saturday. While it’s unclear what the celebrities, both of whom are no stranger to controversy, discussed as they dined on filet mignon and water, new reports claim a new gig for Britney could be in the works. We hear fifty-two year old Mel wants to offer Britney the role of Joan of Arc in his upcoming film The Passion of Joan of Arc, a remake of the 1928 movie of the same name. Celebrity snoops at The National Enquirer are reporting that embattled star Mel Gibson is still deep in his struggle to overcome alcohol dependency. In fact, the actor/director showed up drunk and staggering to an AA meeting, and even knocked one woman over as he staggered into the meeting in Malibu. Read the rest of this entry »
…or not.
Mel Gibson is going to gets shot … but only in “The Hebrew Hammer 2.”
The article refers to the movie as “Jewish blaxploitation.” Think about everything that is wrong with that phrase. But it does make me glad to know that already, we’re at a point when we can laugh at the former Mad Max.
The whole scene has a drunken, cavorting Mel Gibson (probably not played by himself) replaying a fantastic spectacle in which he spouts off a series of anti-semitic slurs before the Hebrew Hammer, played by Adam Goldberg, shoots him point blank.
That’s all nice, but what do you do for an encore?
Mel Gibson has entered a rehab program, following his arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. He is pictured here in the Los Angeles County Sheriff Depertment’s booking photo.

Unfortunately, the suspected drunk driving and rehab are not the biggest stories here. In Gibson’s public apology this weekend he said, “I acted like a person completely out of control when I was arrested, and said things that I do not believe to be true and which are despicable. I am deeply ashamed of everything I said, and I apologize to anyone who I have offended.”
This set off a flurry of speculation as to what Gibson said and did during his arrest, and although details are sketchy the rumors are that he made several angry comments expressing feelings of anti-Semitism.
This is sad. Mel Gibson was one of the few Hollywood stars that seemed to really have it all pulled together. I’ll be very interested to hear the facts, when they finally come out.
The full story about the facts we do know, and a video of L.A. authorities denying that Gibson received special treatment, can be found at CNN Entertainment.
