The actor welcomed Baby Lucia with the Russian musician at a Los Angeles hospital last Friday, a rep for the actor confirmed on Monday.

“This will confirm that Oksana Grigorieva and Mel Gibson welcomed the arrival of a baby girl named Lucia on Friday, Oct. 30, 2009 at an undisclosed hospital in Los Angeles,” his rep said in a statement. “No further details are available at this time.”

Gibson has seven children (six sons, one daughter) from his marriage to estranged wife Robyn. Gibson announced Grigorieva’s pregnancy on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno: “This is true, we’re going to have a child,” Gibson tells the talk-show-host. “I guess I’m Octo-Mel now.”

On Tuesday, Judge Lawrence J. Mira removed the conviction after Mel’s attorney filed a Motion to Dismiss on September 21 to his no contest plea to driving under the influence, stemming from his arrest on July 28, 2006. Mel raised eyebrows with a vicious anti-Semitic rant. Under California’s penal code 1203.4, a defendant who has fulfilled the conditions of their probation may petition the court “dismiss the accusations or information against the defendant.”

Gibson originally pleaded no contest to a driving under the influence charge as part of a plea deal. He was sentenced to three years of probation, fined more than $1,300 and was ordered to attend more than 11 months of Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. He also had to enroll in an alcohol abuse program for three months.

In June 2006, the Braveheart actor was arrested after getting behind the wheel while intoxicated, and was sentenced to three years’ probation the following month on a misdemeanour driving under the influence (DUI) charge.

He successfully attended a 12-step programme for 11 months, underwent an alcohol abuse education course, and also handed over his driver’s licence for 90 days as part of his rehabilitation. Now the soon-to-be father of eight has filed legal papers, obtained by TMZ.com, that indicate his lawyer will be in court in next month to have the DUI removed rom his record because he has completed the terms of his probation.

The two are expecting their first child together this fall — Grigorieva’s second child and Gibson’s eighth. The divorcing screen star recently announced his pending divorce from wife of 28 years, Robin Gibson.

In an interview with CNN on Tuesday, the 39-year-old musician calls the Lethal Weapon star an “incredible artist” and “a visionary.” Mel directed four of Oskana’s music videos, and she credits him with giving her the courage to record an album.

“They’re like dramatic miniature films,” she said. “If you think about it, every talent needs a serious push and help from somebody who is stronger, because it’s pretty much impossible for anybody to succeed in this industry.”

The Lethal Weapon star and his girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, who is expecting Gibson’s eighth child this fall, made a rare appearance at the launch of Playhouse on Wednesday night.

A Life & Style Weekly reporter, posing as a fan, took pictures of the couple as they sat in the VIP section, according to Popeater.com. Gibson’s security guards confiscated the camera and deleted the photos, which prompted the relentless journalist to send a male friend to get another shot.

This allegedly drove the volatile actor into a rage during which he attacked the reporter before storming out of the club.

“Mel approached the guy who tried to take his picture and ripped his shirt,” a shaken spywitness squealed.

The unidentified victim later made his way to a local police station to file a report against Mel.

According to the source, Mel has allegedly threatened to close the church if he continues to suspect that members of the congregation are talking about him.

“Mel approached the altar and went off. He tried to intimidate the parishioners by staring at everyone with his angry eyes. Mel even threatened to shut down the church if people kept gossiping about him.”
