Financial woes aren’t a thing of the past for Mc Hammer, after all. The Grammy-winning former rapper — who famously filed for bankruptcy in 1996 after squadering his multimillion dollar fortune — allegedly owes more than $671,000 in unpaid taxes to the IRS ($658,718) and the State of California ($12,464).
Government officials have filed three separate liens against Hammer this year.
The star, real name Stanley Burrell is the latest in a string of celebrities indebted to the already financially struggling State of California – Snoop Dogg and Janice Dickinson are also being chased for unpaid tax debt.
The early nineties hitmaker currently stars in the A&E reality series Hammertime.
The Hammertime Promo Tour brought ’90s rap star MC Hammer to E!’s Chelsea Lately on Tuesday night.
A&E’s newest television reality star joked with outspoken host Chelsea Handler about his new series. Surprisingly, Hammer credits himself with launching Vanilla Ice’s now-defunct career in hip-hop.
Um….we’re not sure why anyone would want to take credit for chuckle-inducing gems like “Ice Ice Baby” and “Ninja Rap.” As if the whole bankruptcy thing didn’t leave poor Hammer with enough of a humiliating legacy.
