Disney has selected Mandy Moore to voice the lead role in a new Digital 3D-animated musical inspired by the Brothers Grimm fairy tale Rapunzel, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Disney’s Rapunzel Unbraided picks up several years after the princess with 70 feet of golden hair has been stolen from her parents’ castle as an infant and imprisoned. Now a teenager, Rapunzel escapes her Ivory Tower and goes on the run with a bandit as they are pursued by her captors.

Mandy Moore admits she still has a lot to learn about music in an interview with the May issue of Details.
Referring to her past pop singles as “trite, blah, and crappy,” the 25-year-old star — who married hubby Ryan Adams, 34, last month– has vowed to turn over a new leaf with her latest effort Amanda Leigh, debuting next month.
“I found myself in the company of Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, who had really quality music, much more so than mine was. I’m sure there are people scratching their heads, going, ‘Wow, how is she still around?’” the songstress confesses.
“The music is all a reflection of me now, not somebody else’s choices,” Mandy says of her fifth studio album, her first away from career-long label home Epic. “If people don’t like the music, then they don’t like me—and that’s quite all right.”
Mandy Moore is getting ready for the release of her sixth studio album, Amanda Leigh, this May.
The LP will be the recently-engaged sweetheart’s debut on a new label called Storefront Recordings, which was founded by Mandy’s long time manager John Leshay.
A track entitled “I Could Break Your Heart Any Day of the Week” will serve as the lead single from the album. The song will also be featured in of Mandy’s “I Love Gain” ad campaign.
