American Idol 7 semifinalist Luke Menard has Hodgkin lymphoma, a rep for his a capella ensemble Chapter 6 confirmed to CBS News on Tuesday.

“Luke had a lingering cough and was having trouble breathing deeply, so he went to the doctor to have it checked out,” Jane Victor said. “The suspicion was walking pneumonia. But after a chest x-ray doctors saw a mass and did more testing, which is what led to the stage II Hodgkin diagnosis.”

Despite early reports that Luke’s condition is terminal, the twenty-nine year old singer’s prognois is reportedly quite good.

“They’ve been told that it’s treatable and manageable. Luke is currently in Los Angeles and plans to return home to Indiana soon,” Victor said.

American Idol 7 Top 24 semifinalist Luke Menard, 29, is terminally ill with cancer, according to an unconfirmed report from VotefortheWorst.com.

Luke, from Crawfordsville, Illinois, recently learned that he is suffering from stage two of the disease.

The site says the cancer announcement was made via a Myspace bulletin by Luke’s musician friend Chinua Hawk.
