Star Magazine is still trying to sell us the story that Lindsay Lohan is broke as a joke.
The actress, who hasn’t starred in a major motion picture since the 2007 stinker I Know Who Killed Me, was left humiliated after she came up empty at the cash register and couldn’t pay for a manicure she’d received at Lanny Nails in Los Angeles last month.
Another star-strucked customer footed the bill — plus tip — on Lindsay’s benefit, but the incident has been the talk of the upscale nailbar ever since.
“It was embarrassing for everyone involved,” a shop spywitness blabbed to Star this week. “I mean who leaves the house without a few bucks on a credit card?”
Lindsay Lohan turns 23 on Thursday and she made sure this birthday would be a profitable one by pocketing a $70,000 appearance fee to host a poolside bash at the MGM Grand’s Wet Republic in Las Vegas last Saturday, Page Six reports.

Justin Timberlake is accused of dissing Lindsay Lohan after the actress tried to dance with him during a night of partying at NYC’s Avenue Nightclub last week.
“Usually Justin is pretty in control, but he was acting pretty crazy,” according to a NY Post tattle, who claims J.T. was “pretty drunk” at the time.
“He was drinking tequila all night. At one point, he cleared out a little space and started break dancing. He was bumping into people and spilling drinks. It was hilarious.”
Lindsay, who was also partying hard that night, tried to dance with Justin, but the disinterested brushed off the gesture.
“He shooed her away,” the spywitness quips.
Lindsay Lohan doesn’t turn 23 until July 2, but the not-so reformed wildchild is getting an early start on this year’s B-Day celebrations.

According to TMZ.com, authorities responded at 4.20AM Sunday and issued Lindsay a ticket for excessive noise.
