This just in: Beyonce and Lady GaGa lead the nominations for this year’s MTV Video Music Video Awards, with each songstress earning nine Moonmen nods apiece.
To find out which of the divas will take home trophies on MTV’s biggest night, you’ll have to tune into the 26th Annual Video Music Awards, airing live from New York City, on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009 @ 9PM.
She’s known for her sexually-suggestive dance tracks and out of this world attire, but is Lady GaGa a copycat?

Pop princess Britney Spears is worried that the “LoveGame” hitmaker is copying her trendsetting on-stage persona. Brit has been particularly on guard since GaGa — who was once believed to be the victim of “swagger-jacking at the hands of Christina Aguilera — was snapped in Toronto this month sporting ensembles that looked suspiciously “Spears-like.”
Even BritneySpears.com bosses noticed the similarities between the two pop divas — similarities that have shaken the 27-year-old who popped onto the music scene more than a decade ago.
A source tells Star: “On the one hand, Britney appreciates that GaGa is so into her look because it shows she respects her, but Britney worries that GaGa is encroaching on her territory…As long as it doesn’t completely steal her thunder, she’s OK with it.”
In case you haven’t seen it yet, award-winning rocker Chris Daughtry has taken “Best Lady Gaga Cover” honors for his adaptation of the singer’s hit single “Poker Face.”
The American Idol alum — a big Gaga fan — is seen here performing his acoustic version of the dance track on German radio July 2.
Daughtry’s new album, Leave This Town, is in stores now.

Bosses of a breakfast television broadcast in the UK demanded that quirky pop sensation Lady Gaga tone down her daring stage attire to avoid offending some of the show’s more conservative viewers.
The hitmaker dropped by Britain’s GMTV on Thursday to perform her new hit single Paparazzi,” but producers were concerned about how her signature skimpy outfits and provocative dancing moves would go over with viewers. Gaga was asked to cut out the racier elements of her performance out of respect for the audience — that meant no riding on anyone’s “disco stick” while cameras were rolling.
“She finally agreed to tone it down. The nation would have been coughing up cornflakes if she’d had her way,” a source told The Sun Friday.
She may be eccentric, but Lady GaGa endorses sexual responsibility and wants to set a good example to her fans when it comes to the bedroom.
“I want to make it fashionable to have safe sex,” the singing star told The Sun on Tuesday. “You must be safe.”
“You can have sex with hundreds of people with a condom on and get nothing,” she added. “If you have sex without one, then you could get all sorts of problems.”
Lady Gaga left organizers of Britain’s annual Glastonbury Music Festival steaming over her weird diva demands during last weekend’s event.
The “Poker Face” star and her 150-strong entourage – which includes a spiritualist, masseuse, tarot reader, and 30 stylists for her costume changes — reportedly demanded non-smelling cheese on ice and that the backstage area to be bleached before her performance.
