The “Love Game” singer promises that her performance at next weekend’s VMAs in her hometown of New York City will be a moment to remember.
“I know it will,” she told magazine. “I sort of have this philosophy about things: there’s never a reason to do something unless it’s going to be memorable, unless it’s going to change things, unless it’s going to inspire a movement. With the song and with the performance, I hope to say something very grave about fame and the price of it.”

“Mario [Testino] wanted me naked all day long,” the 23-year-old nine-time MTV VMA nominee says of her V cover photoshoot with the acclaimed photog. “It was my stylist, Nicola, who kept sneaking in the designer stuff. He was like, ‘Put this Fendi belt on right now!’ We love clothes. But Mario, he really understands me, and he said, ‘I want this to be about you. I don’t want it to be about the clothes.’”

“D.O.A.” rapper Jay-Z and nine-time VMA nominee Lady Gaga will join Green Day, Pink, Taylor Swift, and Muse as performers at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, airing live Sunday, Sept. 12 @ 9PM, the network revealed in a statement Wednesday.
Lady Gaga is “delighted” to be battling it out with Beyonce for nine moonmen at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.
The pop vocalists are up for a whooping nine nominations each at next month’s ceremony in New York. Both ladies are up against fellow divas Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson, Pink, and Taylor Swift in the “Best Female Video” category. They’ll go head-to-head with Eminem, Britney Spears, and hip-hop heavyweight Kanye West for the coveted “Video Of The Year” prize.
She says: “So excited! I can’t believe it. I’m delighted to be in Beyonce’s company, and I can’t wait to go to the awards show and hopefully kick some ass.”
The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, hosted by Russell Brand, will air live from Radio Music Hall in New York City on September 12.
