Lady Gaga Queen Elizabeth Royal Variety Performance Benefit Concert

God Save The Queen! Pop’s most beloved fashion nightmare has been invited to sing for Queen Elizabeth I of England at this year’s Royal Variety Performance Benefit Concert. Lady Gaga joins the royal line-up as the latest act confirmed for this year’s show, Royal Variety producers said Friday.

The 23-year-old New York native – who is as known for kooky sense of style as her dramatic stage performances, including sparking fireworks shooting from her bra and pretending to stab herself to death in a pool of fake blood – will join entertainment legends Whoopi Goldberg and Bette Midler, Canadian crooner Michael Buble, and teen idol Miley Cyrus for the event at Blackpool’s Opera House on Dec. 7.

Lady Gaga will host Logo’s NewNowNext PopLab this Monday, Nov. 23.

Gaga already hosted the extension of the network’s successful NewNowNext brand in 2008, and the quirky charttopper will return to the pop music hour next week to promote her forthcoming album, The Fame Monster — in stores Monday.

“Singer-songwriter Lady GaGa has become a pop culture sensation over the past year and has returned back to Logo where she first emerged as a pop culture trendsetter,” the network, who caters to programming for the gay-lesbian community, said in a release last week. “Lady Gaga had her first television appearance on Logo’s 2008 NewNowNext Awards where she performed her addictive debut single “Just Dance” and was nominated for the ArjanWrites.com: Brink of Fame: Song award. Her distinct look, sound and persona hinted at her emerging superstar status, and thus a perfect fit for the NewNowNext brand. With hits including “Just Dance,” “Poker Face,” “LoveGame” and “Paparazzi”, Lady Gaga returns with a brand new video titled “Bad Romance” off her new album titled “The Fame Monster.” “The Fame Monster” will hit stores November 23.”

Monday’s NewNowNext PopLab will also feature an appearance by RuPaul’s Drag Race season one winner, Bebe Zahara Benet, who will premiere her new music video, “I’m the Shit.”

Lady Gaga comes to NewNowNext PopLab this Monday@ 7PM on Logo. Other hosts of the program have included Kelly Clarkson, Nicole Scherzinger, and Keri Hilson.

Controversy’s a’comin’: Due to a loophole in the Grammy eligibility guidelines, quirky pop star Lady Gaga — the unspoken leading contender for a Best New Artist statue at the 2010 Grammys next February — has been deemed ineligible for nomination in that category.

The singer’s debut album, The Fame, spawned a handful of Number One hits, earning the New York-born Gaga comparisions to Pop Queen Madonna. The Fame has sold more than 1 million copies to date.

So what gives?

According to Variety, the charttopper with questionable fashion sense earned her first Grammy nod when her hit single “Just Dance” was honored in the Best Dance Recording category at the 2009 ceremony in Los Angeles — therefore rendering Gaga unable to be nominated for Best New Artist this year by Grammy regulations.
