Kurt Cobain has been given new life in the latest installment of Guitar Hero.
The late Nirvana frontman — a pioneer of the grunge music phenomenon of the 1990s — is being introduced to a new generation of music lovers in Guitar Hero 5, a game produced by Activision.
“Smells Like Teen Spirit” and “Lithium” are just a few of the songs Cobain fans can get to experiment with in the new game. Kurt Cobain died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in 1993. Other late music legends, like rocker Jimi Hendrix and country star Johnny Cash, join Cobain in the game.

The ashes of late Nirvana star Kurt Cobain have been swiped from the Hollywood mansion of Kurt’s eccentric widow, rocker Courtney Love. Courtney kept the grudge legend’s ashes and a lock of hair in a pink teddy bear-shaped bag in her home. She was “horrified” to arrive home a couple of weeks ago to find the bag, along with several thousand dollars in jewelry and others valuables, missing. Would anyone else like a posthumous release of new-to-us music? Beethoven maybe? Kurt Cobain had his, and now we have the American V: A Hundred Highways by the long-gone Johnny Cash.
Cash was a music hero, yes. Cash’s life just made millions in the box office. His fans are thrilled to have one last piece of the man’s talented work. But can’t we let him R.I.P.? We know exactly how messed up his life was, so he certainly earned it. I hope they are donating his share of the profits to a cause, Narc Anon would be appropriate
