Kris Allen Grandmother Dies; “The Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien” Appearance Cancelled

American Idol champion Kris Allen has been forced to pull out of a scheduled appearance on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien this Wednesday following the death of his grandmother.

“I know I was supposed to do conan on wed, but there was a death in my family,” Kris announced on his Twitter Monday.

The Arkansas native, who is currently hitting arenas across the country as part of the 2009 Idols Live Tour, will be replaced by Idol runner-up Allison Iraheta.

Allison “is filling in,” Kris Tweeted. “And by filling in I mean [Allison] is gonna rock Conan’s face off on Wednesday.”

American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert comes out as gay in the new issue of Rolling Stone Magazine – but the guy who made glam rock gold again also makes another admission in the music mag –he once had a crush on Idol winner Kris Allen!

Adam says although Kris is hopelessly straight, he found the married 23-year-old Arkansas crooner attractive from the moment he met the him. Ironically, Kris and Adam would go on to room together at the Idol Mansion.

“I was like, ‘Oh, shit, they put me with the cute guy. Distracting! He’s the one I found attractive in the whole group on the show: nice, nonchalant, pretty and totally my type – except that he has a wife. I mean, he’s open-minded and liberal, but he’s definitely 100 percent straight,” Adam laughs.

Adam tells all in the June issue of Rolling Stone, arriving on newsstands this Friday, June 12.

Reigning American Idol Kris Allen will duet with Mike Huckabee during an appearance on the former Arkansas governor’s Fox News Channel show scheduled to air Saturday.

The The 23-year-old acoustic crooner from Conway, Arkansas will sing The Beatles’ classic “Yesterday” as the conservative former Arkansas governor plays backup bass on this weekend program, The Associated Press revealed on Thursday.

Huckabee ran unsuccessfully for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008.
