“Kirstie is exactly the kind of star A&E is drawn to,” says A&E Nonfiction/Alternative Programming Senior VP Robert Sharenow. “Her personal life has been playing out in the media for years, but this will be the first time she’ll be opening up her home to reveal her real life for the cameras.”

According to the trade paper, we’ll get to watch the former Veronica’s Closet star “producing a feature film, patenting multiple inventions, working hard to raise two normal Hollywood teenagers, taking care of eight ringtail lemurs and, on top of everything, looking for love.”

Look out for Kirstie on today’s Oprah with “some fun news to announce.”

Fat Actress star Kirstie Alley, 58, is shopping a television reality show focusing on her struggle to shed the more than 80 pounds she’s packed on since stepping down as Jenny Craig spokeswoman in February 2008.

“I think it’ll be a good show,” an insider close to the deal reveals in Life & Style’s June 22 issue. “It will have lots of emotion and show her struggle to lose weight.”

“I don’t know if she’ll be able to do it,” the source adds. “A show like The Biggest Loser has a hugh following built-in, but I don’t know if Kirstie has that fan base right now.”

Kirstie’s biggest battle at the moment is finding a network that is willing to air the proposed series: “I don’t know if it will end up one of the major networks, but it will end up somewhere.”

The actress’ rep says of the reality rumors: “Anything is possible.”

“I started screaming. It said 228 lbs., which is my highest weight ever. I was so much more disgusting than I thought!”

“My food demons are Chinese food, sugar, butter. A lot of butter,” the former Cheers star says of her eating habits.

“If I’m at the movies, usually I eat popcorn without butter, but I’d say, ‘I’m at the movies, so who cares?’ And toast with butter. Or let’s say I had two cups of pasta and six tablespoons of butter on it. There was a lot of butter going on.”

During her three-year stint as a spokeswoman for national weight loss chain Jenny Craig, Kirstie, now 58, lost 75 lbs. and slimmed down to 145 lbs., but the star says her progress started to go downhill once her contract with Jenny was up and there was no support system around to keep her exercising and eating healthy.

“When you’re a spokesperson for Jenny Craig, there’s responsibility,” Kirstie told PEOPLE. “You have a person every week standing over you when you get on the scale, and I did it naked because those panties could weigh 30lbs.”

“It was amazingly successful. But the first nail in the coffin was when I didn’t have to weigh in. I just sort of went wild.”

She added: “I messed up along the way, but I’m not going to concentrate on that. I’m gonna go, ‘You know what? Get back on the horse, lose the freakin’ weight, and then just move forward!’”

Kirstie told Oprah it was “humiliating” regaining all the weight she worked so hard to lose and feels she let the people down who looked up to her while she was the Jenny’s spokesperson.

The noticably plumper star’s body is shaped quite differently than the one we saw when she strutted across Oprah’s stage in a bikini five years ago. Kirstie said her weight troubles flared up again after her endorsement deal with Jenny Craig ended.

“When you’re a spokesperson for a weight loss company … somebody weighs you every week,” she says. “It’s pressure, but it’s good pressure. I do better if I have some pressure on me…When I didn’t have that anymore … I just said, ‘I’m going to cut myself some slack.’ Big mistake.”

“It’s humiliating,” Kirstie told Oprah. “The most painful thing for me is that I have all these people that I inspired and then I let them down.”

Oprah is coming to the rescue of former fat girl Kirstie Alley. The Queen of Talk has inked a multimillion dollar development deal with the ousted Jenny Craig spokesmodel through her Harpo Studio production company. Kirstie’s contract includes her own hour-long Oprah-produced talk show, and the possibility of her own sitcom on the Oprah Winfrey Network.

“I’m very open with what I’ve been through in my own life. Nothing shocks me. I hope to offer something totally fresh for the TV audience,” Kirstie says.

“It’s nice to have rich, powerful and loyal friends like Oprah,” TV analyst Stewart Eller says. “Unemployed Kirstie’s career is basically in the toliet, and Oprah is taking a big financial gamble to put Kirstie back in the big time.”

Eller’s interested in how Kirstie’s very public devotion to Scientology will play into her daytime show:

“As a devout Scientologist, she’ll be able to use her connections with the church to line up a string of celebrity members as guests, including Priscilla Presley, Tom Cruise, John Travolta, and Kelly Preston. So the talk show could be very interesting.”

Harpo president Tim Bennett called the fifty-seven year old former Cheers star a “fan favorite” and expressed excitement over the new Alley/Oprah partnership:

“We’re looking forward to working together to bring viewers everywhere her distinctive voice and comedic flair.”

Just days after it was announced that she and Jenny Craig would be going their separate ways, Kirstie Alley tells People Magazine that she will be creating her own weight-loss program; she’s hoping for a 2009 launch.

“The weight-loss field is wide open and not immune to new ideas and improved solutions for the fat problems that plague many of us Americans every day,” she says. “I want to create something new that will help millions of people end the seemingly never ending fatty-roller coaster ride. I am especially passionate about seeing to it that our next generations are not struggling with the same weight issues that my generation has struggled with.”

The program spoke for itself as the world watched me lose 75 pounds. After a three year promotional campaign, self-proclaimed Fat Actress Kirstie Alley is parting ways with weight loss giant Jenny Craig. The Veronica’s Closet star once tipped the scales at more than 200 pounds before slimming down with the help of Jenny Craig.
