Katy Perry… er, make that Katy Brand, is making history on the US charts. This week, Katy’s hit single “Firework” rose to the top of the Billboard Hot 100, making the sultry newlywed the first female artist in 11 years to score three consecutive radio singles from a single album reach No. 1.
Meet Katy Brand! Grammy-nominated singer and Maxim’s January covergirl Katy Perry drops by The Ellen DeGeneres Show Wednesday where she reveals that she’s in the process of changing her last name to that of her husband of one month, British comic Russell Brand.
Russ, 35, and Katy, 26, who became engaged after a whirlwind romance that began in Sept. 2009, tied the knot during a wedding ceremony in India in October.
On Sunday, Glee’s Darren Criss (Blaine) and the Dalton Academy Warblers performed Katy Perry’s summer mega-hit “Teenage Dream” at the Trevor Project Live Benefit — a Hollywood charity event benefitting the nation’s only gay & lesbian suicide prevention hotline — featuring an appearance from very special surprise guest: Katy herself.
Devoted Gleeks can expect to see more of Darren live soon. He’ll be hitting the road with the rest of the gang from the hit FOX musical-comedy for a tour of Europe next summer.
Little known fact: Katy Perry was thisclose to becoming Notch No. 4,563 on John Mayer’s very cluttered bedpost when British funny guy Russell Brand came along and swept the Teenage Dream singer right off her feet.
