The Emmy-winning Grey’s star and her singer-songwriter spouse have named their new baby daughter Nancy Leigh, after the actress’s mother Nancy and sister Margaret Leigh — who was adopted from the same Asian nation in the 1970s. The new addition to the Heigl-Kelley Family will go by the nickname Naleigh, Katherine’s spokeswoman Melissa Kates announced on Thursday.

“They sent us a picture. They told us that it was a little girl and who she was and the information about six months ago,” Katherine said in an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show last Friday. “It was meant to take a long time. This sort of thing can take years.”

The process moved faster because Naleigh is a special needs baby. “They wanted to get her to us as quickly as possible,” she added.

Josh and Katherine have shared a few personal photos of their lovely daughter on their charity website @ www.jasonheiglfoundation.org.

The website cites a source, who claims the couple began the adoption process on a baby girl 10-month-old named Nayleigh at least six months ago. The girl’s nickname will be Leigh. Heigl, 30, is expected to formally announce the news on an episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show to air this Friday.

Katherine explains, “They told us that it was a little girl and who she was and the information about six months ago. It was meant to take a long time. This sort of thing can take years. Her name is Naleigh. Well, I am naming her after my mother and sister Nancy, Leigh. So we call her Naleigh. I just dropped that one. Anyway, I’m sure that’s fine we have to meet her first. We assume it’s a Naleigh. She has special needs. She is a baby special needs baby and because of that it all moved so much faster. They wanted to get her to us as quickly as possible.”

Katherine has always been a vocal proponent of adoption; as her older sister Meg was adopted from Korea in 1970s.

She said that she always wanted to adopt: “We started talking about adoption even before we were engaged because it’s really important to me. It’s been a big part of my life and my family. My sister is Korean and my parents adopted her back in the 70’s and so I just always knew that this is something I wanted to do. I made that really clear because not everybody is down with that. Not everybody thinks that. I just wanted to make sure that I was marrying a guy who understands that this was going to have to happen.”

“She is thrilled. She and Josh are so happy,” says a source.

“Katherine is taking time off to film a movie. The producers at Grey’s have accommodated past things like that before. It’s a cast of 13 and it is a true ensemble so the show is mindful [of other commitments].”

During an appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman in July, Heigl set out to “embarrass” her bosses after she was forced to work a 17 hour day when the series came back from hiatus last month.

McPherson has slammed the star for going public with her complaints, stating that she’s not the only staff member putting in long hours on the show.

He tells the Hollywood Reporter: “I think it’s unfortunate. People are going to behave in the way they choose to behave. There are so many people who work so hard on ‘Grey’s,’ and all of our shows, without any notoriety and those are the ones I’d be concerned about, people who feel like they’re being criticized or looked down upon.”

Grey’s Anatomy returns to the air September 24.

Katherine starred as a fast-track professional who becomes pregnant after a one-night stand with a stranger in the box office comedy. The actress rubbed her former colleagues the wrong way after insisting the film portrays women as “shrews.”

“I gotta say it’s not like we’re the only people she said some batshit crazy things about,” Rogen said. “That’s kind of her bag now.”

The slimmed-down actor even mocked Heigl’s latest romantic comedy, The Ugly Truth, which co-stars Gerard Butler. “That [movie] looks like it really puts women on a pedestal in a beautiful way,” he quipped.

Apatow, who directed Knocked Up, stepped in to defend Heigl’s remarks, saying: “She probably was doing six hours of interviews and kissing everyone’s ass, and then just got tired and slipped a little bit…And you wait on a phone call that says ‘Sorry, I was tired,” and you know it just never came.”

“I didn’t slip and I was doing fucking interviews all day too… I didn’t say shit!” Rogen shot back.

Ugly Truth co-stars Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler were reportedly evacuated from the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills after a bomb scare Sunday afternoon.

The stars were promoting their new movie at the Los Angeles hotel when they were quickly ordered to exit along with 400 other guests.

According to PEOPLE, Butler and Heigl greeted fans and posed for pictures outside as the investigation got underway inside the luxurious establishment. Everyone was allowed back inside the building after a two hour hunt failed to turn up any suspicious packages.

The Ugly Truth hits theaters July 24.
