Kara will guest co-host the Emmy-winning daytime talk show, alongside regulars Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, and Sherri Shepherd, on October 15. The singer/songwriter/producer made her View debut following the American Idol finale last May. The appearance will be the first time Kara has co-hosted the show.

“It’s called ‘Dropped.’ I’m starting to shop it now,” the American Idol judge told New York Magazine’s Vulture Blog at the G-Star Raw Fashion Show in New York City on Tuesday night.

“It takes the best acts that have been dropped and gives them a second chance. You look at Katy Perry, the Jonas Brothers, Alicia Keys, and Lady Gaga, they all have one thing in common: They’ve all been dropped from their labels,” Kara, a Grammy-winning songwriter continued. “I was dropped. Think about how many times in your life you haven’t achieved one goal, but you’ve achieved another one.”

No word on what networks have expressed new show. We wonder if Kara will host? With Bo Bice, Taylor Hicks, and Katharine McPhee, and a host of other Idol alums, all having been dumped by their labels, the judge’s new show will have a healthy pool of potential contestants to select from.

“I can’t get over it. Completely shocked,” Kara said during an interview on KIIS FM’s On-Air with Ryan Seacrest on Friday. “It’s such a loss for the show, such a loss for the contestants.”

She added, “She’s definitely the heart of the panel and the kind of heart she treats the contestants with she treated me with last year during the auditions. She was so kind to me and made me feel immediately like I was part of the panel. And I hoping she’ll reconsider.”

“The way I’m understanding, it was her choice to leave,” Kara told Ryan. “How could you ever replace [her]? She’s an incredible talent. She is somebody who helped to make the show as big as it is. And how could you ever replace that?”

Grammy-nominated songwriter Kara Dioguardi is set to return as a judge on the ninth season of the FOX series.

“Her deal is done. There are no ifs, ands or buts,” an E! source said. “Done. She will be back.”

The news comes as the future of fellow judge Paula Abdul remains in question.

With her contract due to expire in just a few days, Paula has yet to receive a new contract proposal from the producers of American Idol.

“She’s not a happy camper as a result of what’s going on. She’s hurt. She’s angry,” David Sonenberg, Paula’s manager, told The Los Angeles Times more than two weeks ago.

American Idol’s newest sharp-tongued critic married general contractor Mike McCuddy in a sunny afternoon ceremony at United Methodist Church in Prospect Harbor, Maine on Sunday.

The 38-year-old Grammy-nomited producer-singer-songwriter walked down the aisle in a strapless, mermaid-style Vera Wang confection in the company of nearly 30 friends and family members, InTouch Weekly reports.

“They are absolutely in love with each other,” says Pastor Scott Nurse, Sr., who married the couple. “When I told him he could kiss the bride, everybody cheered. It was a very close, small family-type service.”

Kara’s fellow American Idol judges were absent from yesterday’s ceremony.

According to ABC News, Barbara Walters asked the Idol judge if she felt Adam’s perceived homosexuality had a negative impact on Idol voters.

To which Kara replied: “Well, first of all, I hope not … because we should be judging on talent and viability in the music industry and they both [Lambert and Allen] had that.”

“Either way,” she said, “I don’t think that Adam [Lambert] was ever in [the closet],” she continued. “I think he was always openly out.”

When Babs asked again if Kara thinks Adam “was always openly out,” she replied, “I think he was. I mean from what I’ve seen … I do. I never thought he wasn’t.”

Lambert, a 27-year-old musical theater aficionado from California, has never confirmed speculation that he is gay.

At least one person was less than impressed with Kara DioGuardi’s bikini body reveal on Wednesday night’s season finale of American Idol. “Bikini Girl” Katrina Darrell says Idol judge Kara DioGuardi “just made herself look stupid” when she upstaged Katrina’s performance of “Vision of Love” by prancing across stage in two-piece of her own.

Big changes could be on the way for America’s No. 1 television talent competition — starting with the judges’ table.

In an interview with TV Guide on Friday, American Idol newcomer Kara DioGuardi confirmed that her time as a judge on the smash FOX series is almost up.

“I’m only here for one season,” the award-winning songwriter says.

While the pull-no-punches pundit admits that she’s enjoyed her tenure on Idol so far, she’s not sure if she’ll be back next season.

“That’s what we’ve discussed. So we’ll see what happens. Hopefully they’ll keep me on.”

“I feel grateful to America that they let me grow and they let me find my groove on the show and that they were patient,” she adds. “And hopefully I haven’t disappointed them. It’s been a scary experience at times.”

American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi battled an eating disorder as a teenager.

“It was an eating disorder. I actually went into a treatment center for it.”

“I had kind of a binge eating disorder where instead of dealing with my emotions, I would stuff them down with food. I never threw up or starved myself,” the outspoken songwriter revealed in an interview with the television newsmagazine Extra.

Kara explains, “It was definitely that excess eating to kind of just stuff all the emotions down and the emotions were that I really was a creative kid who didn’t know she was creative and didn’t have those outlets because I was always afraid to join the theater group and not perform.”

For Kara, learning to properly channel her creativity and discovering her love of music became her way out.

“The moment I started doing music, the moment I did what I loved to do in my life and committed to it, I don’t have those problems anymore…”
