Well, you knew it was coming….Jessica Simpson’s father has been blamed for ruining her romance to Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo.

Romo split from Jessica last week – just a day shy of her 29th birthday — after reportedly became increasingly frustrated with Joe Simpson’s persistent meddling in his daughter’s private life.

The two had been dating since November 2007.

“Joe’s meddling ways most likely took its toll on the relationship, which is the reason why they split the first time 14 months ago. Joe promised he’d take a step back when the couple reunited but he was still too involved,” snitches told FOX News’ Pop Tarts column on Tuesday.

“At one point Joe was even giving Tony football advice which doesn’t go down well.”

In March, The National Enquirer reported that Joe – who also acts as Jessica’s manager – was jealous of Tony’s relationship with his daughter and believed it was to blame for the current state of Jessica’s once promising career.

“Joe now feels that Tony has become too much of a distraction for Jessica. Any free time she has, Jessica wants to spend with Tony. But rather than blaming his daughter’s work ethic, Joe points the finger at Tony.”

Sources close to Tony believe the football star has been losing interest in Jessica for some time.

“It was a long time coming, he hasn’t really been into her and the relationship for awhile, but stayed together because he didn’t want to look like a jerk for not having a better reason to break it off,” one insider remarked sadly.

“She is trying to save face by saying that it’s because of their busy schedules.”

Joe Simpson is tired of tabloid reports claiming that he doesn’t like his oldest daughter’s NFL star boyfriend, Tony Romo.

The notorious stage dade is slamming a report featured in the March 30 issue of The National Enquirer that claims he wants daughter Jessica Simpson to end her year-long romance with the Dallas Cowboys quarterback because he’s become too much of a distraction from already fleeting career.

“So tired of people saying I don’t like Jess and Tony… He is the best…” the former pastor said on his Twitter page on Wednesday. “Don’t believe the National Enquirer!!!”

Papa Perv has given his cash cow daughter, singer-actress Jessica Simpson, strict orders to ditch her Dallas Cowboys quarterback, Tony Romo, The National Enquirer claims.

Despite initially encouraging the romance, Jessica’s manager father, Joe Simpson, has turned sour on the young lovers after becoming convinced that Tony is no good for Jessica–or her hotly-debated waistline.

“He’s kicking himself now for hooking them up and giving Tony the go-ahead to propose. As Jess’ manager, Joe believes that he knows what’s best-and he thinks Tony is the root of Jessica’s current problems,” a friend tells The Enquirer. “He wants Tony out of her life….”

Joe believes Tony has become too much of a distraction for Jessica, whose career sinks further and further into the bottomless pit of oblivion with each new round of performance blunders.

“Joe is trying to get Jess to focus on perfecting her stage show, dieting, and working out, but she doesn’t want to rehearse,” the Simpson insider explains. “Any free time she has, Jessica wants to spend with Tony….Her main concern is getting Tony to settle down and commit.”

Jessica has been dating Tony since November of 2007.

According to The National Enquirer, a “dispute” broke out between father and daughter when a spiritually-tolerant Ashlee decided to have a Buddhist priest perform the ceremony rather than Joe, who is a former Baptist minister.

“In the 11th hour, Ashlee clashed with her father over the ceremony…..Joe completely lost it! They were down to the wire. Every last detail was in place and he could not believe his daughter came up with this last-second Buddhist idea after everything was set,” a family friend to the tab.

A defiant Joe refused to host a Buddhist wedding.

“When he would not cave, she actually decided to cancel, she actually decided to cancel,” The Enquirer source claims.

Ultimately it was new hubby Pete Wentz who smoothed things over between a furious Ashlee and a defiant Joe.

“He ran after Ashlee, sat her down and told her ‘I love you, baby. Just trust me. Let your dad win this one. Who cares who says the vows as long as we’re married that’s all that counts.’”

Ashlee relented and the young were married by Joe a few hours later. Joined more than 150 guests, Pete and Ashlee enjoyed their Wonderland wedding reception, accented with a “Tophat” wedding cake, decorated with a teapot and pocket watch and a pot of flowers on top.

“It all ended well. Ashlee had her dark fantast wedding, Joe, as usual, got his way and Pete scored some major points with his new father-in-law,” the tabby spy says.

Ashlee Simpson refused to confirm or deny the pregnancy rumors that surfaced for her earlier this week- and for good reason spywitnesses for the New York Post say. Ashlee’s manager/dad Joe Simpson is trying to broker his baby girl a $1 million deal for Ashlee to possibly confirm her baby news on a forthcoming cover of a celebrity weekly.

“Joe is contacting all the weeklies and asking them to pony up $1 million to put Ashlee on the cover.”

“The deal would include photos of Ashlee – taken by Joe, of course, so he can make more money – an interview and photos of the baby when she has it,” says the Post insider.

And while Ashlee’s alleged pregnancy has sparked a new found interest in the youngest of the Simpson stars, an unidentified magazine editor tells the New York press that Ashlee is unlikely to snag a cool million for a cover story: “Joe has an unrealistic expectation of what Ashlee can command,” the editor states, “$60,000 maybe – but definitely not a million.”

“The timing is a little suspicious. Her album ['Bittersweet World'] is dropping next week, and there was little to no interest until now. Ashlee’s lucky she got pregnant, frankly.”

Singing sibs Ashlee and Jessica Simpson fear their parent’s twenty-nine year union may soon come to a screeching halt after Papa Joe Simpson left his wedding ring at home for a night out at the South by South West festival in Austin, Texas earlier this month. Rumors of a Simpson Family split have been further fuelled by reports that Joe and his wife, Tina Simpson, have not been seen in public together in several months.

A source tells the National Enquirer: “(They are) definitely living separate lives. “Joe spends less time at their home in Encino than ever before, and he just turned 50. Joe and Tina still reside in the same home, but there’s definitely trouble in the marriage, and much of it stems from Tina being upset that Joe is more involved in handling the careers of Jessica and Ashlee.”

Pete Wentz may have been on to something earlier this month when he whined to his girlfriend Ashlee Simpson about his inability to impress her overbearing preachin’ papa, Joe Simpson. The stage dad he reportedly livid that his youngest daughter is dating the makeup wearing rocker: “He hates that she’s with Pete.” “He thinks he’s a wimp. And he tells Ashlee so.” “He thinks nobody can manage his daughters’ careers, or love lives, better than he can.”

Joe has even been coaxing Ashlee to dump Pete in hopes of finding her a more suitable love-the reality tv show way. But don’t expect Joe’s pouting to bulldoze Ash and Pete’s love affair anytime soon:

“She’s not like Jessica. Dad doesn’t like her boyfriend? So what. She doesn’t care. She’s been that way since she was 16 years old.”

Pete Wentz is at risk for runny mascara after spending a night at the movies whining about Joe Simpson’s perceived preference for Jessica Simpson’s new boyfriend, Tony Romo.

Pete and wifey Ashlee Simpson went to see Alvin & The Chipmunks at The Grove Theater in Los Angeles on January 6th, where the couple was overheard bickering about the Pete/Tony/Joe triangle.

“Your dad doesn’t like me, but he loves Tony,” Pete wailed to Ash. “You know it.”

Pete could be on to something. Joe is rumored to be nudging Ashlee to boot the Fall Out Boy in hopes of landing her a reality dating show-ala The Bachelorette.

A family friend tell In Touch Weekly that it’s not that Joe dislikes Pete “but he really loves Tony, and that’s where the tension is.”

Pete once said: “I do well with the grandparents, that’s my demographic. Not so much the mom and dads.”

Manager and meddling dad Joe Simpson is secretly urging his youngest daughter, Ashlee, to dump her boyfriend Pete Wentz, so that she can be the star of a new reality dating show. “It will put 14 guys in a house and they will compete to date Ashlee.” Joe is confident that a reality show will help promote Ashlee’s second LP, Bittersweet World, set for a March 2008 release.

“He wants Ashlee to break up with Pete,” an insider reveals to OK! Magazine.

Joe Simpson is stuck with a moutain of tickets and hotel suites for next month’s Super Bowl in Phoenix, according to a published report. Apparently, Joe dropped lots of dough on the game in anticipation that Jessica’s future baby daddy, Tony Romo, and his Dallas Cowboys would be playing for the Super Bowl title. But it was not to be, and now Joe has to sell off his game packages.
