Jewel is spending the summer in Atlanta, where she’s busy filming scenes for her lead role in the Lifetime biopic The June Carter Cash Story.

And we’re getting our first look at the star in action. On Tuesday, Jewel shared a photo of herself in character as the country singer, tweeting:

Singer-songwriter Jewel, who is expecting her first sonwith her rodeo champ Ty Murray, was involved in a two-car collision with a fire engine in a small town outside Dallas on Friday.

The Grammy-nominated “Foolish Games” singer, 36, narrowly escaped serious injury when a volunteer fire truck smashed into the passenger side of her vehicle during an early morning crash in Stephenville, Texas, 100 miles southwest of Dallas.

Jewel Goes Rogue! The folksy ’90s pop singer pokes fun at Sarah Palin in a parody video that imagines the Alaskans as former bandmates.

Jewel is the star of a side-splitting new Funny or Die parody that’s spoofs VH1′s Behind the Music by imagining a past life in which she and her rival for the title of America’s Most Famous Alaskan were once a popular folk duo. In the video, Palin — who famously played the flute during her days as an ’80s pageant queen — is one-half of Sarah Barracuda and The Jewel!

The video marks the latest comedy foray for Jewel, who set off a viral sensation earlier this summer when she went undercover as a frumpy office worker and wowed a karaoke bar crowd by singing her own songs as part of FOD’s Undercover Karaoke series.
