Jerry? Jerry who? Jerry Lewis is out, but the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s annual Labor Day Telethon went on — and it had what the MDA is calling its best showing since 2008.

The 2011 Muscular Dystrophy Association Labor Day Telethon will be Hollywood screen icon Jerry Lewis’ last as host.

Despite the struggling economy, the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon was able to raise $58.9 million, officials say. The totals were down from $60.5 million last year and a record $65 million in 2008.
The 45th annual telethon broadcast from the South Point Hotel in Las Vegas on Labor Day Monday and reached some 40 million viewers through 170 television stations.

It’s almost Labor Day — and you know what that means: Time for the annual Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon!
Never one to mince words, no interview with Jerry is complete until the legendary boozer is dropping a few highly-offensive quotes for our enjoyment. Egads! This week’s victims: the recently arrested Paris Hilton and the recently rehabbed Lindsay Lohan. Ah — don’t you just love it when senile old battle axes get off their meds and start attacking young sluts?!
