Just hours after Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson both tragically passed away last Thursday, the web went crazy with reports that ’80s “It” actor Jeff Goldblum had stumbled off a cliff, falling to his death, while filming a movie in New Zealand.

It was all just one big hoax — and the very much alive Jeff couldn’t resist poking fun at the situation on Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report Monday night.

Don’t be alarmed, Jeff Goldblum is alive and well.

It’s The Fly! J/K. Actor Jeff Goldblum was a special guest on The View Wednesday. Jeff gabbed with the gals about his potrayal as a mental patient in the new film Adam Resurrected, which is generating Oscar buzz on the film critic circuit.

I’m so shocked by this news that I just have to blurt it out.

Nicole Richie and Jeff Goldblum – together! I’m serious!

Well… maybe. What we do know, according to MSN’s Kate Giantis, is that the two stars recently had dinner together and now have nothing but good things to say about each other. Things like Richie saying, “I love Jeff Goldblum, there is something about him,” and Goldblum talking to a friend about Richie saying, “she’s sexy.”

Nicole Richie, who is less than one-half of Goldblum’s age (and about one-half his height too) is the polar opposite of many of his exes, who include Geena Davis and Laura Dern.

Granted, this isn’t exactly an engagement announcement, but the media better start working now on their cute-sy couple nickname (i.e. Brangelina and TomKat) just in case.
