What an entrance! Mariah Carey almost took an embarrassing fall as she stumbled down a step on the set of The Jay Leno Show Monday night. The “Obsessed” star attempted to laugh off the embarrassing mishap by telling the audience: “You know when I tripped, I had choreographed that earlier.”
Jay Leno’s jump to 10 p.m. has been anything but smooth, and now the comedian is airing his frustration in an interview with Broadcast & Cable. “I’m not having a bad time at 10 o’clock now,” the 59-year-old tells the trade journal. “I look at this as a job, and now I’m faced with a challenge, and it’s a challenge I find difficult but interesting.”
Leno takes most of the blame for the poorly-rated Jay Leno Show, but also reveals that the earlier time slot was not his idea.
“Would I have preferred to stay at 11:30? Yeah, sure. I would have preferred that,” Jay says. “Right now we’ve reached a level [and] we’re not going below that. The numbers seem to tell us people [who] are watching the show are staying the whole hour; that’s a good sign. I’m told if we can keep a 1.5 [rating], they make $300 million a year; this is what they say. So we’re a little above the 1.5, we’re doing OK.”
Michelle Obama will appear on an upcoming episode of The Jay Leno Show, The Associated Press reports.
On Monday, NBC announced that the First Lady will respond to ten rapid-fire questions on the program’s “10 @ 10″ segment, via satellite from The White House. The guest spot marks the first time Mrs. O has appeared alongside Leno since the comic’s move to primetime last month.
The First Lady will answer Jay’s questions on The Jay Leno Show this Friday, Oct. 23.
A bitter public feud with her estranged husband Jon didn’t stop reality mom Kate Gosselin from poking fun at her “Mommy” image in a comedy skit that aired The Jay Leno Show Wednesday.
In the skit, faux-photogs from Mike Day’s JMZ crew mob Kate’s car in a grocery store parking lot. “Seriously, I am exhausted. Leave me alone,” she scowls at them. “Hey, what did Mommy say? I asked you to stop taking pictures and you continued.”
She tells one photog “go to your room,” but after he complains that they’re in a parking lot, she says, “go to your car” and come out “when you’re ready to behave.”
“Will you help Mommy with these groceries?” she tells another pap — Kate even cowlicks a few cheeks!
On The Jay Leno Show Friday, the former Tonight Show host couldn’t help cracking a joke about the $2 million blackmail bombshell against one-time rival David Letterman.
“If you came here tonight for sex with a talk show host, you’ve got the wrong studio,” Leno said, starting his monologue.
“What is going on? First Conan hits his head, and then somebody tried to extort money from Letterman,” he asked. “I’m so glad I’m out of late night,” Leno quipped. “I’m happy to say that I’ve never had a sexual relationship with any of my staff members.”
Shenae Grimes and Jessica Stroup, stars of The CW’s teen drama Beverly Hills, 90210, showed off their special hidden talents while poking fun at TMZ in this new “JMZ” spoof, which appeared on The Jay Leno Show this week.
Inaugural week on The Jay Leno Show continued Thursday, with Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry dropping by to slam a recent In Touch Weekly report claiming she is expecting her second child with her model beau of four years, Gabriel Aubry. The couple welcomed 18-month-old daughter Nahla in 2007 and Halle says her womb remains unoccupied.
Jay complimented the star’s slender frame.
“Thank you for that Jay because that must mean all these pregnancy rumors can be put to bed. I was getting a complex. I was like, I have to stop with the burgers or something,” said Halle, who was the Polaroid of Perfection in a little black dress and knee-high boots.
