Jason Castro, the soft-spoken crooner who bid farewell to his Idol aspirations last Wednesday night, hit the morning talk show circuit with an interview and performance stop on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday.

On Thursday morning’s edition of Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS-FM morning show, “Mr. Tambourine Man” himself, Jason Castro, reflected on his experience on American Idol after being booted off of the country’s #1 talent search on Wednesday night.

Jason Castro was sent packing on American Idol on Wednesday night after a disastrous showing during Tuesday night’s performance of “Mr. Tamborine Man.” J.C’s take on Bob Marley’s “I Shot The Sheriff” also failed to make an impression on the judges.

“Pack your suitcase,” an unforgiving Simon Cowell told the dreadlocked crooner.

Paula Abdul made an embarrassing mix-up on American Idol on Tuesday; the judge offered feedback for two songs sung by Jason Castro — except that he’d only sung one.

“Oh gosh, we’ve never had to write these things down — I’m not fast enough,” Paula began; Tuesday marked the first night this season that judges had to hold their critiques until all performers had taken the stage.

“Jason, first song, I loved hearing your lower register, which we never really hear, um … The second song, I felt like your usual charm wasn’t — it was missing for me. It kind of left me a little empty.”

“The two songs,” she continued, “made me feel like you’re not fighting hard enough to get into the top four.”

Simon Cowell shook his head and Randy chuckled before Paula caught her mistake.

“Oh my god, I thought you — I thought you sang twice!” she exclaimed.

Paula, who has raised eyebrows with questionable on-screen behavior in the past, explained the blunder after the show, telling reporters:

“It got very confusing … the producers come up to us in the dark and said, ‘We are not going to have you guys judge after each performer, we are going to have all the performers go once, then twice and at the end critique them….I am feverishly trying to write notes for every performance….I was trying to give my critique for Jason Castro, and scribbled Jason’s name, and that was David Cook’s … We all just screwed up everything. This is live television. This is fun!”
