Five months after the death of her brother Michael Jackson, pop legend in her own right Janet Jackson is speaking out for the first time about the day Michael died to why she thinks Dr. Conrad Murray is responsible for the King of Pop’s death in a new interview with ABC News’ Robin Roberts.
A flash mob took over The Grove in Los Angeles Saturday afternoon, paying tribute to R&B’s own Janet Jackson by replicating some of the singing legend’s most signature moves to a medley of her hits.
Check out Miss Jackson peering down on the dancers from a balcony above the crowd! Janet is set to open The 2009 American Music Awards (AMAs) in Hollywood next Sunday, Nov. 22. The hot hitmaker will perform a medley to kick off the ceremony, which sees her late brother Michael Jackson nominated in five categories.
Janet Jackson will lead off this year’s American Music Awards with a “special opening performance,” following her tribute to brother Michael at the MTV Video Music Awards last August. Michael Jackson received five posthumous nominations for the upcoming ABC award show.
“We’re thrilled about having Janet Jackson open this year’s show,” American Music Awards producer Larry Klein said in a release. “She is an incredibly dynamic performer, and I think the audience will be excited to see what she has in store.”
The 2009 American Music Awards airs live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles Nov. 22 @ 8:00 PM EST on ABC.
