Roman Polanski is not only “deeply depressed” about his incarceration in a Swiss prison — as his lawyer told media in Zurich on Sunday — The Chicago Sun-Times claims the critically-acclaimed Chinatown director is actually on ‘’suicide watch” as he awaits possible extradition to the United States to face sentencing for drugging and raping a 13-year-old aspiring model more than 30 years ago.
In the weeks since his long delayed arrest, Hollywood notables like Penelope Cruz, Whoopi Goldberg, and Woody Allen (Figures) have rallied around Polanski — but don’t count Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx among the supporters.
“If it had been my daughter who was barely a teenager — my daughter is 15 — Roman Polanski would be missing … period,” The Law-Abiding Citizen star stated in an interview with Parade Magazine this week. “It wouldn’t even get to the court case. But, that’s me and I wouldn’t want anyone else to follow that because you should let the justice system work it out.”
“On the other hand, I don’t know Roman Polanski, but maybe if I had a relationship with him my answer would be different. I just think this whole issue is bigger than Roman Polanski,” the 41-year-old actor added.
