George says he’s willing to mend fences with his former co-star, as long as his chum — shock jock Howard Stern — is there to mediate.

“Bill is an energetic guy who likes to be in the spotlight,” George, who played Sulu on the original series, explained in a video interview with The Associated Press Wednesday. “However, strangely, when any of us – the rest of us invite him to things we are doing; throwing a party or one of us are getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame or anything that we want to celebrate – birthdays – we’re there to celebrate, congratulate and enjoy each other – except Bill,” he added.

“Bill’s never shown up. It’s very strange because he enjoys the limelight and yet he doesn’t like the limelight to be shared with colleagues from Star Trek.”

The actor says he thinks he’s found “neutral” ground for them to settle their dispute – Howard Stern’s profane Sirius Satellite Radio show, where George is a frequent guest.

“If Bill accepts, and I would applaud his balls if he accepts and joins me in that kind of discussion with Howard mediating as an interlocutor, I said, ‘I’d be happy to do that’.”

The outspoken –if not crude — shock jock took a strong stand in favor of same-sex unions during a frank discussion regarding the topic on The Howard Stern Show Wednesday.

“My feeling about gay people is that we have a responsibility not only to make gay marriage acceptable and to make gays feel accepted as much as heterosexuals…Gay people are downtrodden They are beaten. They are abused for their sexuality, and it goes across race,” Stern said on Wednesday’s show. “In the white community and the black community gay people are the bastards of the world. And in order for things to change, because any one of you could have gay children, or gay relatives, or gay friends…we have a responsibility to make this acceptable, to get all this bullshit so that some gay kid going to high school doesn’t get the shit beaten out of him just because he’s gay…I’m as heterosexual as they come. What is this hang-up about gay marriage? Who cares? Get on with your life!”

The guestlist of 180 featured a number of A-listers, including comedienne Joan Rivers, journalist Barbara Walters, and Jimmy Kimmel, who arrived at Le Cirque Restaurant to watch the 54-year-old shock jock exchange vows with Beth, 36, in a wedding ceremony officiated by Kelly Ripa’s husband, Mark Consuelos.

According to Friday’s edition of the New York Post, shock jock Howard Stern will wed longtime girlfriend Beth Ostrosky at Le Cirque restaurant in New York tonight.

In another juice portion of the interview, Rosie fessed up to having a little crush on Republican spitfire Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

“Were you not attracted to Elisabeth Hasselbeck?” Howard asked Rosie. “When you look at her physically, you don’t want her?”

Country music legend Dolly Parton has been left furious with radio personality Howard Stern after the shock jock broadcast a racist and sexually vulgar snippet he claimed was a segment from her online audiobook during his Sirius Radio show last Tuesday.

A “shocked” Dolly released the following statement on Wednesday:

“I have never been so shocked, hurt and humiliated in all my life. I cannot believe what Howard Stern has done to me.I would never have such vulgar things come out of my mouth. They have done editing or some sort of trickery to make this horrible, horrible thing. Please accept my apology for them and certainly know I had nothing to do with this… I just wanted you to know that I am completely devastated by this.”

Dolly is considering legal action against Stern:

“If there was ever going to be a lawsuit, it’s going to be over this,” the singing star says.
