Zac Efron is set take over the role of Peter Parker in the next Spider Man feature, a well-placed source at Universal Pictures blabbed to Britain’s Daily Star on Sunday.
The High School Musical sweetheart will replace Tobey Maguire, 34, in the fourth blockbuster movie, due to start shooting later this year and scheduled to hit cinemas in 2012, according to the new report.

Corbin Bleu is joining the cast of the critically-acclaimed Broadway production In The Heights, Variety said Wednesday. After a shortlived gig on the canned CW drama The Beautiful Life, the High School Musical alum is sliding back into his singing and dancing shoes to leap to “new heights” in the Tony-award winning musical.

In The Heights will welcome the young star for a 13 week gig between January 25-April 25. Set in upper Manhattan’s historically Dominican Washington Heights community, In The Heights defines the meaning of family and home through music.

The big screen musical series that launched the careers of teen stars Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, and Ashley Tisdale is being expanding into the Asian market with a remake of the 2006 TV movie, starring an all-Chinese cast and featuring a new screenplay.

Vanessa Hudgens has admitted that some of her younger fans have made her hesitant about having children of her own.

“All this exposure to young children does put me off having them,” The 20-year-old actress, who played Gabriella Montez in Disney’s hit High School Musical franchise, joked to The Mirror on Sunday.
“I love kids, don’t get me wrong, because without them I wouldn’t be where I am today, but they do follow me around to the most peculiar places,” Vanessa added.
“And they’re very loud! When they start screaming it’s sweet to see how enthusiastic they are, but I’m going to go deaf sooner than most people. It’s impossible to calm them down when they start, I just cover my ears.”
