It was pint-sized star Hayden Panettiere who suggested her Heroes character, cheerleader Claire Bennett, should take a walk on the wildside with another woman on the hit sci-fi series this season.
Hayden Panettiere blames the intrusive nature of tabloid media with destroying her lovelife. The Heroes actress, 19, quickly became a tabloid darling after she began dating her 30-year-old co-star, Milo Ventimiglia, in 2008.
The couple split in February; now Hayden is convinced that Hollywood couples rarely stand a chance because fans’ interest in their lives puts added pressure on the relationship.
“It’s very, very difficult and people have no idea what they do to peoples’ relationships. They destroy them. The paparazzi and the public,” Hayden says in a revealing interview with Company Magazine. “The public wants to read about your personal life, and the paparazzi give it to them by nosing into your personal life and saying things that are just not true and horrible.”

Spywitnesses tell The Globe’s Loosch Lips Column that the Heroes cutie — known for her environmental and humanitarian efforts — curtly refused to sign an autograph for a male fan who approached her as she exited a flight.
A jet-lagged Hayden was headed home after a press junket in New York City for her new film, I Love You, Beth Cooper.
“Get a life and a real job,” Hayden allegedly snarled at the autograph seeker.
“She was so nasty and insulting to the poor guy for no apparent reason,” says one astounished snitch. “It’s not like she was being hounded by a bunch of people.”
