Harry Potter and his pals won’t be using magic to combat evil in 3D after all.
On Friday, Warner Bros. Studios announced that the first part of the film in the blockbuster Harry Pottter film franchise will only be released to standard and IMAX theaters in 2D — not the eye-popping 3D technology as was originally planned.
On Thursday, Warner Bros. Pictures released a new trailer for the first installment of the final film in the Harry Potter film saga — The Deadly Hallows.
Harry, Ron, and Hermione prepare for the ultimate battle with Voldemort when Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I hits theaters in both 3D and 2D on Nov. 19, 2010. The movie will be followed by Part II on July 15, 2011.

The studio is suing a condom company for their cleverly named “Harry Popper” condoms: the wrappers feature an anthropomorphic prophylactic, which bares a disturbing resemblance to everyone’s favorite fictional boy wizard.
A trailer for Part I of the final Harry Potter film (starring Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint) has been released and sees the teenage wizard come face-to-face with his nemesis Voldemort. The film, the latest in a series of highly-successful movie adaptations of JK Rowling’s fantasy books, is expected to be the darkest yet.
The Deathly Hallows has been split into two films to accomodate the 759-page novel. The flick will hit cinemas on Nov. 19, but the final Harry Potter film is more than a year away, due for release on July 15, 2011.
