The Tony-nominated production of Hairspray will end it’s successful six year run on Broadway on January 18th, 2009.

“We are very proud of our girl HAIRSPRAY,” the musical’s award-winningn composer Marc Shaiman said in a statement Thursday. “She has many parents and an extended family that now reaches across numerous continents, not to mention ages and races. I guess this is how a parent feels when their kid moves out of the house. She’ll give us all sorts of new pleasures….”

Call us dorks, but we love us some Hairspray over here at PC. Especially the faux race riot at the amusement park that results in Tracy’s BF, Link, getting socked in the knee with some old lady’s purse!……Guess you had to be there.
