A tearful Rihanna accepted a 2009 Glamour Women of the Year Award during the magazine’s annual award show at Carnegie Hall in New York City Monday night.

Former supermodel Iman presented the 21-year-old “Russian Roulette” singer with “The Back-On-Top Superstar” prize at last night’s ceremony. Maria Shriver, Amy Poehler, and poet Maya Angelou were also among last night’s honorees.

“One thing that I’ve learned from male role models is that they don’t hesitate to invest in themselves.”

Mrs. O — who styled herself for the shoot — was photographed by Matthias Vriens-McGrath for one of five Glamour Women of the Year covers.

How Does Scarlett Maintain Her Privacy: “By not talking about my personal life!” the Iron Man 2 star, 24, reveals in the new issue of Glamour Magazine, on newsstands October 6. “I think that makes a big difference. I go to work, I make movies, I publicize them. I hope people enjoy them. I’m not a relationship expert. I’m not a diet and health expert. I don’t know anything except for movies, other than some Trivial Pursuit kind of information.”

On Sept. 27, Scarlett celebrated her first wedding anniversary with actor hubby Ryan Reynolds, who she married in a secret ceremony in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Scarlett On Marriage: “…It is weird, because I would never ask somebody about their marriage if I didn’t know them. I don’t profess to know anything about marriage that anybody else doesn’t know, or how to make it right. I don’t want to read about somebody who’s giving me relationship advice. So I try to keep some things for myself, to have a private life. Because that’s kind of all you have, really, isn’t it?” she continued. “When it comes down to what separates you from the next person. You don’t go to work and talk about your marriage. Why should I?”

Earlier this year, the normally private star took an uncharacteristic stand against the media’s obsession with body image in an essay for The Huffington Post, where she lashed out at reports suggesting she had undergone a miracle diet to get in shape for her role as The Black Widow in Iron Man.

Scarlett On Weight & Body Image: “I hate seeing these ridiculous articles where [tabloids] guess someone’s weight. But they approach it as fact! I’m sick of it as a woman — not just as a person on the other side of it. As a reader. I got fed up,” she revealed. “I don’t feel the obligation to be a specific weight. I don’t feel like I have to fit into a body that’s not my body. I have the body I have and I try to maintain it.”

Gwen On Hubby Gavin Rossdale: “I always thought he’d be a good dad,” she says. “And he has basically lived up to that and beyond, beyond. He’s very, very passionate, and he’s very intense. He’s made to be a dad. I’m very lucky.”

Gwen Explains Why We Rarely Read About Her In The Tabloids: “Maybe my crazy time is coming up. Let’s see what happens. Maybe I’m just a late bloomer. But I think it’s also just my nature.”

Gwen Credits Her Parents With Keeping Her Out Of Trouble: “I was thinking today when I was driving, ‘How am I going to make sure that [my son] Kingston never does anything bad and doesn’t get arrested?’ I was thinking, ‘How did I stay out of trouble?’ And I know it’s just ’cause my parents are so strict,” she says. “I mean, I’m still scared of them.”

Gwen On Her Blonde Hair And Red Lipstick: “That’s my whole obsession with old Hollywood. I always loved watching all those old movies, and still do—if I had time.”

What Surprises Her About Being A Mother: “How hard it is…everything from getting up in the morning to trying to be consistent to trying to have the right feelings. But, of course, the rewards are so great.”

“I don’t think I’d be a party girl [even if I were] in college. When I was in high school, I remember seeing girls crying in the bathroom every Monday about what they did at a party that weekend. I never wanted to be that girl crying in the bathroom.”

“I don’t date a lot,” Taylor tells the mag, “The other day I was in my dressing room with one of my closest friends, Kellie Pickler, who is also my opening act, and she said something really interesting to me: ‘We can only give someone what’s left over.’” Taylor explains, “She does the same thing I do, so she knows what it’s like to do interviews all day and give your heart and soul on stage every night. After all of that is taken, we can only give someone what’s left. So it’s hard.”

The 16-year-old Disney star opens up about weight gain, partying, and her romance with a grown man as she prepares for the release of Hannah Montana: The Movie, in theaters April 10.

“I think it’s lame, because it will eat at you forever. I’ve been at photo shoots where I’ve tried something on and said, ‘Oh my gosh, why don’t these fit?’ But I’ll never be a six-foot-tall, 95-pound model; I’m meant to have a little more meat on my bones,” Miley told Glamour. “One thing that bugs me is people who say, ‘Miley really needs to lose some weight,’ or, ‘She got her boobs done.’ I did start out really skinny, but you’re not going to have boobs when you’re 12 years old. I’m like, what are you talking about — let me grow!”

Miley on Partying: “The last thing I ever want to do is disappoint my family. I think it’s selfish to go out partying all the time, especially if you have little ones [in your family]. I have a nine-year-old sister, and I don’t want her to go to school and have people make fun of her for it.”

Miley on Her Relationship with 20-year-old Justin Gaston: “The best thing that’s happened to me in a long, long time has been meeting Justin [Gaston], because he’s the most respectful and selfless person I’ve ever known.”

“I don’t feel like I’m doing anything wrong, and I’m ready for people to accept it,” she says. “My fans already accept it — they just want me to be happy. And I haven’t been that happy in a few years … working so hard, moving to L.A. from Nashville, going through a bad breakup [with Nick Jonas]. I’m finally happy again, and I think that is reflected in my music and my work.”

Lindsay mistakenly believed she, and not Mrs. Cruise, would grace the 70th anniversary cover of the style mag. When photos for the April 2009 issue were released last week, La Lohan was livid to discover that Katie had taken “her place” as covergirl. Now Lindsay angry at her fellow actress, celebrity informants report.

MSNBC reports:

“(Lohan) did this big Madonna-themed photo shoot and she was totally under the impression it would be the cover. Her Marilyn Monroe shoot for New York Magazine seemed to make her relevant when she did it, she thought the same would happen this time. Only she wasn’t on the cover, Katie was, and she’s mad at her now.”

Another insider says that a Lohan cover was never part of the plan.

“If that was Lindsay’s impression, it was a mistake. She was always going to be inside the magazine.”
