Is the nearly 40 year feud between Star Trek icons William Shatner and George Takei about to reach the final frontier?

George says he’s willing to mend fences with his former co-star, as long as his chum — shock jock Howard Stern — is there to mediate.

“Bill is an energetic guy who likes to be in the spotlight,” George, who played Sulu on the original series, explained in a video interview with The Associated Press Wednesday. “However, strangely, when any of us – the rest of us invite him to things we are doing; throwing a party or one of us are getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame or anything that we want to celebrate – birthdays – we’re there to celebrate, congratulate and enjoy each other – except Bill,” he added. Star Trek legend George Takei and husband Brad Altman will go where no gay couple has gone before when they appear on the second season of The Game Show Network’s The Newlywed Game, hosted by Carnie Wilson, this Tuesday.

“George and I are thrilled. It’s pretty historic for us,” Brad said last month. “It’s going to be a great experience for both of us to see how well we really know each other after 22 years together.”

Takei, who played Sulu on the Star Trek television series in the late ’60s, married Altman in September 2008, two months before the California Supreme Court upheld a voter-approved ban on same-sex marriage. Their marriage remains legal.

Brad and Mr. Sulu appear on a special celebrity episode of The Newlywed Game on Tues., October 13 @ 6PM ET/PT.

That Kate Gosselin just can’t catch a break.

Official Book Club Selection writer Kathy Griffin couldn’t leave the Kimmel stage last night without giving the spitfire star of TLC’s Jon & Kate Plus 8 the parody treatment. The fiery redhead teamed up with Star Trek actor George Takei to poke fun at The Gosselins — reality royality turned tabloid trash — in the spoof trailer for a fictional biopic entitled Kate Is Enough: The Kate Gosselin Story.

The skit is a trailer for a fictional biopic about TLC’s Jon & Kate Plus 8, and features the Emmy-winning star of Bravo’s My Life On The D-List as Kate and Takei as her estranged husband Jon.

In promo pics released by ABC on Friday, Kathy shows off a spot-on impersonation of the original Octomom — right down to her signature spiky blonde haircut. In one of the photos, Kathy, in character as Kate, catches George, as Jon, in an embrace with a cheerleader.

Check out the full clip on Jimmy Kimmel Live next Wed., Sept. 9 @ 12:05 AM on ABC.

What do you think of the George Takei/William Shatner feud? Is William Shatner taking the wedding snub and Takei’s other public disses too personally?

Can anyone explain what in the devil William Shatner is rambling on about?

All I can decipher is that the original “Captain Kirk” and “Sulu” still hate each other–and that could have been summed up in less than two minutes. Instead, the veteran actor has taken to YouTube to air his thoughts on former Star Trek castmate George Takei in a lengthy recorded rant that includes many references to the word “festering.” Read the rest of this entry »
