Matt has been impressed with Italian entertainment journalist Elisabetta Canalis ever since he and wife Luciana vacationed with the new couple over the summer.

“She is a really, really wonderful woman,” Matt Damon told PEOPLE at the New York premiere of his new film The Informant on Tuesday.

“It’s nice to see my friend so happy,” Matt added.

“I am gay, George, and I think I am in love with you…Please take me,” the crazed fan pleaded, all while stripping down to his underwear in plain view of everyone in the room. “May I kiss you, please. Just one kiss?”

George was tickled pink by the close encounter. “It’s hard when you take a big chance and it doesn’t really work,” he replied with a chuckle. “It’s always embarrassing when you take one real big swing for the fences and it just falls flat,” he added. “It was a good try, though.”

The 48-year-old bachelor arrived at the festival via water taxi with the 30-year-old actress/model in tow.

George and Elisabetta — christened “La Canalis,” or “Eli” by local media — have been dating since June, and are already being dubbed the new Brad & Angelina.

Clooney is at the festival to support his new thriller, The Men Who Stare At Goats, featuring Jeff Bridges, Ewan McGregor, and Kevin Spacey. The film opens in theaters Nov. 9.

According to his rep, Clooney broke his hand after accidentally getting it caught in a car door. Ouch!

“There was an accident and he did break his hand,” the actor’s longtime rep Stan Rosenfield said Thursday. “… He was on his property in Italy and he shut the car door on his hand.”

Clooney, 49, was treated at the private Ars Medica clinic in Gravesano, Switzerland and later released. “The doctor has given him 30-40 years more to live, and no live animals were harmed during the wrapping of the hand,” Rosenfield added.

The star was spotted cozying up to 30-year-old Italian actress and model Elisabetta Canalis in Rome over the weekend. The 48-year-old actor reportedly enjoyed a dinner date with Canalis at a hotel in the Italian capital.

Elisabetta made her feature film debut in the 2004 American comedy Deuce Bigelow 2: The European Gigolo as the Lady in Castle. As of May 2009, Elisabetta is the new co-host of the Italian version of Total Request Live.

The eternal bachelor last dated Las Vegas cocktail waitress Sarah Larson. The couple split last summer.

George will begin shooting A Very Private Gentleman in Italy this fall.

Weird News Alert: George Clooney has hired a psychic to help him contact his late pet pig.

The former sex symbol is still mourning the loss of his beloved 300lb potbellied pig, Max, who suffered from partial blindness and arthritis before his death in 2006.

George is said to still by devastated by Max’s passing and has reportedly asked a medium to get in touch with the swine for him, according to Star Magazine.

After 18 years together, the 48-year-old George — who vowed never to get another pig — regularly took Max to interviews and photoshoots and joked it was his longest-running relationship.

George reportedly told a friend: “The psychic told me Max had a great life with me. He is very happy in spirit and still hangs out with me sometimes.”

“I am not sure she was telling the truth but I do want to believe her.”

George said shortly after Max’s death: “He was as old a pig as the vets had ever seen. He was a big part of my life. It’s strange how animals become a big part of your family. They really become a big issue with you.”

We hear the Oscar-nominated actor is reportedly being courted for the role of “Tell It Like It Is” Phil in a proposed film about his life — but if George’s lack of enthusiasm is any indication of his likeliness to take on the project, Phil better not hold his breath.

“Dr. Phil actually set up a meeting with George to pitch him on the idea,” according to The Globe. “George didn’t seem too overly excited, but did say he’d willing to read a script once it’s complicated and they’ll go from there.”
