The professional prankster, who was among the hundreds of celebs who converged on Washington to watch Obama’s historic swearing in ceremony, took to his MySpace blog in defense of the unpopular Republican on Wednesday.

“I was less impressed by the boo’s as the republican representative took the stage. I found it to be offensive and separating. I was also appauled (sic) by the people who didn’t stand when former President, then President G W Bush appeared. I urged the people around me to rise,” the actor wrote on his MySpace blog on Wednesday. “Regardless of whether or not you agree with, or like the man, he at that time was still our president and he gave 8 years of his life to serve you. The cook might not be making what you like but be greatful (sic) for the fact that he’s serving you at all… Don’t be an Obama patriot, be a patriot.”

Ashton makes a strong point, on the other hand, perhaps if he were one of the millions of Americans losing a job or a home, he’d have a better understanding of why some folks are a little upset with President Bush’s leadership-or lack thereof.

Sadly, this is the kind of treatment you get when you are largely responsible for driving the richest nation on Earth into a war and one of the worst economic recessions in a generation.

Admittedly, our President has good reflexes. The journalist threw the first shoe very fast, and George Bush was able to duck it. So we need to give made props to W. He must have been good at dodgeball in high school.

I’m really surprised that the video shoes the guy throwing two shoes. You’d think that if someone throws a shoe at the most important person in the world, he wouldn’t have more than a millisecond before he was pownced on. But this guy throws a shoe at George Bush, pauses, reloads, and throws another shoe. And even then it took a while for the proper response from the security officials.

Anyway, YouTube.com is great. Something happens halfway around the world one minute and the next minute we can all watch it on a YouTube video.

Will Ferrell’s President Bush offered his political “strategery” to Tina Fey’s Sarah Palin on the primetime edition of Saturday Night Live Thursday night.

“But before I leave, I wanted to help Sarah Palin and John McCain by giving them what every candidate wants most. A primetime, heavily publicized, network endorsement from George W. Bush.”

Josh Brolin will reprise his role as our nation’s unpopular president for a skit on Saturday Night Live this weekend.

“Expect a lot of fun and some surprising moments,” Brolin, who will host SNL tomorrow night, told people.com on Thursday. “There’s a good chance the W. [himself] may appear in a skit – you’ll have to watch to find out.”

W, Oliver Stone’s semi-autobiographical film based on the life of George W. Bush, opens in theaters today.

Collages of Paris Hilton and President George W. Bush, constructed from adult magazine clippings, are currently on exhibit at a New York gallery.

British artist Jonathan Yeo is showing the pieces he created at NYC’s Lazarides Gallery.

The Hilton potrait, titled, “Paris, 2008,” and posters of it are on sale at the gallery for $20 a piece.

Yeo is offering Paris 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the posters because she never received any money from her infamous 2004 sex video with then-boyfriend Rick Salomon.

Political snitches are dishing that First Lady Laura Bush has abandoned her role at the White House and is no longer living with the President!

“She’s staying at the Hay-Adams. I don’t know how many people know…but it’s probably not many,” the snooping tattle tells self-proclaimed “Gossip Guru” Ted Casablanca.

“She just couldn’t take it anymore,” whispers a former White House staffer who claims to be close to L.B. “She’s had it.”

Neither the President’s press office nor the the First Wife’s press office would comment.

Actor Gary Sinese was in Washington D.C. last week to show his support for the continued efforts in the Middle East. While I’m not a fan of the political ramifications of “all that,” I do like seeing folks working for the causes they represent.

One little issue: actors have notoriously short attention spans! Look at the vacant-eyed stare (on Sinese). He looks bored and peevish. What genius thought that expression looked supportive?
