Soprano songbird Christina Aguilera was among the hundreds of Etta James’ friends, fans and family who convened to remember the legendary rhythm and blues singer at her funeral service on Saturday.

James died early Friday at Riverside Community Hospital in California.
She was 73.

Ailing singing star Etta James has been hospitalized in Los Angeles after falling ill with a potentially-fatal blood infection. She is being treated for sepsis, a form of blood poisoning caused by a urinary tract infection. She was hospitalized for the same condition last year and, according to her son Sepio, will remain in hospital “for as long as it takes to clear her infections.”
